What to expect? M-2300-S GT500 Brembo Brake Kit

Well after 3 years, my stock GT 13" brakes aren't looking so hot anymore. I'm looking at getting this kit:

Does anyone know how these are in comparison to the brembo package brakes on the 2011+ GT's? How much of an improvement in stopping power can I expect with this setup? I can get take-offs for $800 so I'm wondering what they will be like. I'm almost tempted to just get the calipers and buy upgraded rotors.

Those brakes are identical to the Brembos on GT's and BOSS's and 07-12 GT500's.

Upgrading a standard GT with the original wheels will require a wheel upgrade too because those brakes will not clear any non-brembo GT wheels.

I had that kit on my old s197, its the reason it was the must have option on my newer one.

As for stoping distance, its hard to quantify it, as the tire option has allot to do with it.

I can say this over the standard sliding crap.

- Rear pads and rotors last much longer.
- The steel braided lines give you a very stiff progressive pedal.
- You can modulate the brakes so close that you can feel and lay off ABS.

The bed in procedure is critical. I sued a progressive higher and higher speed bed in procedure.

It will stop an a dime and give you change.

They do dust up quite a bit more than the 13inch ones.

Also they will not fade under spirited driving or even harsh driving. I prefer the solid rotors, they are made by brembo and are of very good quality.

You do need wheels or spacers to clear them. I hate spacers so I bought wheels to do it right.

I will be getting the steel braided lines for mine in a year or so. Helps a bunch. Install is fairly straightforward.

Hey brother, FRPP kit is a great upgrade over the stock brakes. But take a look at the Stoptech ST40 kit, just a little better material and just a tad bit lighter (10lbs). Also can do red, black and I think silver. The price we have on the stoptechs are pretty hard to beat

wheel fitment is what kept me from getting these or those ^^^ i've ordered a wilwood narrow kit to which should fit factory 18x8 rims. calipers are where the issue typically is with narrower rims. oddly enough i'm still skeptical but we'll know in a week or two.

from what i can tell, pads can really make a difference first and foremost biting into the rotors and slamming you to a stop. but upgraded rotors and calipers fluid (and pads) etc... makes the biggest difference in being able to repeatedly stop from high speeds (50+? 80+), over and over again due to heat absorption and dissipation capabilities.

interesting, thanks for the info everyone. I have 20 AMR" wheels and they fit brembos so I should good. Unless I cough up extra cash and get the 15" GT500 brembos, then I may run into some issues.

Yeah, I have Hawk street pads (HP I think?) and the performance is fine but my rotors look terrible now and the calipers have seen better days. One option I considered was getting some new slotted rotors and buying the OEM take off calipers from roush and having them powdercoated. By the time I pay for that though, I could have just got the brembos which I've always wanted anyway. we'll see, i'm shopping now. will post pics soon.
