Are stock mustang brakes really this bad?

So you're saying upgraded rotors and racing pads are not an option for those looking for the once-a-year track day?

Nope, you need full ceramic 16" racing rotors, dedicated racing pads, DOT5 fluid, full stainless lines and 20" wheels so everything clears.

I know you are joking, but in case someone misses it... DOT5 fluid is silicone-based and not compatible with any other DOT Brake fluids which are glycol-based. DOT5 should not be used on any street car. Stick with DOT4 or if you really want higher boiling point, do some research into DOT5.1 fluid (although some DOT4 fluids get close to its specs).

Back on topic...
As mentioned in a few posts above mine, in addition to better pads and fluid, better cooling will help. Take a look at brake cooling ducts.

These are the brake lines from the FRPP BBK:
Goodridge 12364 Goodridge 12364

If I swap to those can I help my pedal feel between now and when I can afford the FRPP 14" BBK?

The Stoptech pads and DOT4 fluid are doing great for now, the pedal just is a little too soft for my liking.

Yes, SS lines help a bit with pedal feel at the track.

Have you checked ebay for GT500 or Brembo package takeoffs? There are usually several sets for very reasonable costs...

Thanks. I have a time attack in a few weeks. I'm going to try my new pads and fluid out there.

The reasons I can't afford a BBK now are student loans and a new BBK requires me to buy new wheels as well since I don't want to run spacers to get the BBK to fit.
