Sticky tire recommendations for 2014 GT TP

I am looking around for a set of tires I want to use on my 2014 GT TP car. The main purpose of these tires will be "weekend warrior", meaning HPDE and open track day events. They will be going on 19x9.5 wheels, and I'd like to use 275/40-19 all around.

Now the tricky thing is I'm not interested in an R-compound tire. I've decided the most cost effective way to go is with Ultra High Performance Summer or Max Performance Summer tires. The logic behind my decision is that in this size, R-compound tires are nearly 2x the price. I'd rather have a little less grip and more longevity, and be able to afford 2 sets of summer tires instead of 1 set of R-compound. This way I can afford more track time, and the tires will last longer. Lap times will suffer, but that's ok.

I'd like this tire to have a just a bit more grip than the Pirelli tires which come standard with the Track Pack.

My top 2 choices at the moment are:
1) BF Goodrich g-force Sport Comp2

2) Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position

I'd appreciate you opinions on what other tires I should be considering. My budget is ~$260 per tire.

Michelin Pilot super sports, pricey but sticky.

They do get great reviews, and they are pricey. So you're a 100% correct! I'll have to ponder this choice also

Check into Toyo options. I would rate them just under Michelin but better than any other competitors.

I just put the Pilot Sport AS + all seasons on my car in 275/40/19 and they are phenomenal to say the least. I can only imagine how the summer only Pilots are. Worth the price of admission. The AA traction and 500 tread wear rating don't hurt either.

My S2000 had BF Goodrich g-force Sport Comp2 in 255s on the rear as a "step up" from the REO50s in 245 and I feel that traction suffered - and this was on a 240HP inline 4 with only 180lbft. I sold the car before I swapped the tires back out.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to add Michelin Pilot Super Sports to my short list.

I've been hearing a lot about BFG Rival lately. Has anyone here tried running that tire, and if so in what size?

^ This. Pay a little more, get the best all-around-max-summer street tire. Plus these have a 300 treadwear rating, pretty amazing. I track my car 3-4 times per year. MPSS will be my next set, for sure. I have Conti Extreme DW now, and they are great, but I believe the MPSS are the best.
