SR Springs Install Options???

Im looking for some input or experience with SR lowering springs. I have a 2013 GT/CS and am looking for the most cost effective setup. I got the springs from American Muscle last week on Friday when they had them on sale for $99 by mistake. I'm a novice when it comes to suspension so please be kind

1) Do I use the stock strut mounts with SR springs and panhard bar?
This will set me back....
$114.99 for the J&M Adjustable Panhard Bar plus install, but will it work?

Total $114.99 plus install

2) Upgrade to the GT500 mounts and use 05-09 Shocks/Struts and panhard bar?
This will set me back....
$114.99 PHB
$119.99 GT500 Mounts
$430 for Eibach Pro Shock/Strut Set or Steeda Pro Action Shock/Strut Set

Total $664.98 plus install

3) Upgrade using Steeda adjustable upper strut mounts with Steeda Pro Action/Eibach Pro Shock/Struts and Panhard bar?
Out of pocket....
$114.99 PHB
$331.46 Steeda Mounts
$430 for Eibach Pro Shock/Strut Set or Steeda Pro Action Shock/Strut Set

Total $876.45 plus install

If you do the springs, shocks/struts and mounts at the same time ... you will save in labor costs.

You know what I would recommend ... because the whole package will be better.

Best Regards,

I just installed SR springs a little over a week ago. At first I only liked the stance and handling as the ride was a little rough but after I gave it some time to settle, got an alignment and cut my bump stop down the ride has improved.!! Here is my set-up:

Steeda pro-action shocks/struts, SR springs, GT500 strut mounts, Boss 302 tower brace, BMR panhard & panhard support brace, BMR lca relocation brackets.

Edit: After a few drives it doesn't ride like I want it to so I'm removing the SR springs.

I'm glad to see you were able to take advantage of the $99 dollar SR Springs, that's one hell of a deal. Good catch!

There's a ton of great suspension mods out there and you really can't go wrong with any of the mods you listed. I have a 2011 GT and I went with Eibach Springs, Stock Struts/Shocks/Mounts, a J&M Pan hard bar and Upper/Lower Control arms! I absolutely love the it, I've put about 4k on this set up and the struts/shocks still drive like it's brand new, just has a much lower Stance.

When talking about Eibach or Steeda suspension components, I think you'll be really happy regardless. These are two of the best brands to go with when it comes to suspension pats! Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

I am new to the forum and have a 2013 GT and was also wondering about this exact same setup. I found the steeda strut/shock combo and wanted to use them with the sr performance springs and gt500 mounts. I saw that lmr has a steeda strut/shock setup for the 11-14 or one for the 05-10. im trying to figure out if the regular 11-14 steeda set up will work with the lowering springs and gt500 mounts on my 13 because i thought the whole idea of using the gt500 mounts is to allow the use of 05-09 shocks/struts???? I have been getting mixed answers from people so im just trying to set the record straight. If this set up will not work what do i need to run the sr lowering springs on my 13 gt?

I got the sr springs as well and will install later this month. Putting them on my stock track pack struts/shocks but i am getting a panhard bar. Will post my impressions after installing. Won't be able to really test things out till I get some 2014 track time tho

I would recommend going with Koni Orange STR.T shocks and struts before the others you mentioned almost for the cost alone. Koni's are one of the most popular set of dampers for the s197 platform... and for a reason. Let us know if we can help you out, we've tested multiple suspension packages and can steer you in the right direction.

I received my SR springs last week and I just ordered a set of GT500 strut mounts, J&M adjustable pan hard bar, and a set of adjustable LCA mounts. So when they come in I'll get the car lowered. I can't wait to see how she looks and drives when I'm done with that. I still plan on picking up a Steeda UCA & mount to basically finish off phase 1 of the suspension.

You have a 2013, the GT500 mounts will not fit your OEM struts. Just another FYI

GT500 mounts are designed for 05-09 struts, they will not fit the 11+ struts.

Can you explain what is different from the 05-09 and the 13' is it shaft diameter or what? I'm baffled and a bit ticked off to think that I'm going to have to put either $300 into caster camber plates that will only work with a stock struts or spend $500 or so on a set of shocks & struts just to lower my car

The diameter is shorter and thicker on the 11+ struts where as the 05-09 is longer and skinnier. We have plenty of Koni dampers in stock that won't cost you anywhere near 500 dollars.

I'm surprised whoever you bought these from didn't tell you when they looked at the order.

I wish there was a sticky that said "Read this before you buy GT500 mounts".

How about a quote on a set of shocks & struts that I can use with the SR springs, & the GT500 mounts. I use the car mostly for street driving with a little drag strip/ auto cross use. And by little I mean maybe 2-3 times a year. I do want the car to corner better then it does now ( which I'm sure everyone does). Thank you enlightening me on this fact Jay.

Jay - opinions on Koni Yellows vs Tokico D-Spec struts/shocks? I have SR springs that I picked up for cheap, and I'm looking for a good deal on struts/shocks to install everything as a package. Adjustable is a must have based on what I will be doing with my car.

Koni's are going to be a little stiffer than the Tokico's on full soft and much stiffer fully cranked up. I personally don't like tokicos or the quality of them compared to koni yellows. Plus we're running a pretty dang good sale on both the yellows and STR.T I've tracked the Yellows both in the states and on Hockenheim and Nurburgring and they surprisingly handled very well. Theres a good amount of travel in the konis as well. What are the springs rates on the SR springs?

Not sure if the Tokico's are the same but aren't the Koni's piston an inch shorter then stock so on an inch lowering springs they have full travel, in comparison to the stock shocks which would have an inch less of travel when lowered?

Anyone know what size nuts I'm going to need for the Koni STR.T's to put them in my car when I do the drop? Also wondering how much I should cut the factory bump stops, since I didn't order any? I really want this to go smoothly, considering I keep finding out that I need something else every time I turn around. At least now I will be able to build up the front struts with springs mounts and hardware before I ever loosen the first bolt on the car.
