Noise from rear of car

Alright guys, I have a squeak in the back of my car somewhere that is driving me nuts. When I'm driving, it sounds like it is coming from the area off the driver side rear wheel, and the frequency seems to be in line with the wheel speed. I've tried to find it, but I can't get the car to recreate the squeak with the wheels in the air. Is there anything you can think of that could make a noise as the wheels rotate, but would go away when the suspension load is removed?

Rear Axle Bearing, Rear Brake Pads Worn, Debris in Brake Pads or Brake caliper Cocked. Next Time you Have it In the Air Check for Play in Axle with Tire Still Installed. Compare to Other Side. While Driving See if Squeek Changes when you GENTLY apply Brakes.

That is a Start!

Thanks for the reply KC,

Axle bearing was my first thought, but when I put it in the air and it didn't make the noise I changed my mind, maybe wrongly. I figured it would still make the noise in the air, but maybe the change in the pressure caused it to go away, idk. Brake application does not change the noise at all, so I do not think it has anything to do with the braking system.

If you have it in the air and no squeak you removed the pressure from the Axle bearing causing the squeak to go away. Sometimes you can turn a wheel and feel a ball bearing that might be on its way out by a little unevenness when you turn the wheel by hand.
Also a universal joint will cause the same type of squeak, was the car in neutral and driveshaft turning when you were checking it?

Good Call, Siber!

What is the Old Saying! The Squeeky Wheel Gets the Grease. An Assistant Driving While You Ride in The Back Might Be Helpful as well to verify where it is coming from! Borrow a Stethoscope Perhaps!
