Koni STRT and FRPP P Spring Install Questions

Hi I have the following items for my 2011 GT

1. FRPP P Springs
2. GT 500 Strut Mounts
3. Koni STRT struts and shocks
4. FRPP Bump Stops
5. Strut Dust Boot, by Gabriel

I plan to do the install his weekend, but wanted to assemble the front struts prior to installation. I have a spring compressor on hand. My questions are as follows:

1. Do I need the dust boot? Probably not a bad idea since we get roads salted during winter months, but this should be given by Koni I think all other manufacturers provide it.

2. Do I need the bump stops? Wouldn't these made the ride harsher if it bottoms out, but if is bottoming out then there maybe another problem.

3. Can I reuse rear bushings to install the rear shocks?

Also I want to install polyurethane sway bar bushings the front is 35 mm and rear 24 mm and the rear sway bar dog bones. I was also thinking of getting front end links but that's a maybe. Energy suspension makes the bushings, are there any others? FYI the front sway bar is hollow and rear is solid.

I think Whiteline may also make bushings, and I think you want to put the jounce bumpers on because they will stop them from bottoming out. It isn't good to be hitting the bump stops hard but they are there to stop metal from hitting metal from the looks of it. The front does take a while with compressing both sets of springs but you want to do it right. Also make sure not to use an impact unless told otherwise from the manufacturer. I found using a 13/16's spark plug socket that was ground out to fit a 10mm socket worked to let me tighten the strut rod nut down.

Do you have a link for the dust boots?

2. Do I need the bump stops? Wouldn't these made the ride harsher if it bottoms out, but if is bottoming out then there maybe another problem. Cut 1/4" off the bump stop on the front. The rear shouldn't really need it if they do cut 1 section off.

3. Can I reuse rear bushings to install the rear shocks?
You could but they should come with new hardware no?

See bolt remarks.

OK I got a message back from KONI directly, even though they don't provide the dust boots they recommend them. And they also recommend the bump stops.

My suggestion to KONI is that if you recommend somethign please provide it with your product, just as a customer I feel that it is not properly disclosed what the manufacturers intentions are in the use of their product. I am disappointed in this aspect hopefully the after installation results are redeeming, my two cents of opinion is that its not worth the expense to part this upgrade. Buy a set and it will be cheaper, till now I have spent over $750 on all the parts on sale while I can by an Eibach Kit from AM for $875 inlcuding new sway bars..............shoulda woulda coulda.............haha

Yeah I realized the same thing after I bought konis, gt500 strut mounts, steeda ultralites (which I'm trading for eibachs anyways) all for about the same price. And even more salt in the wound is that konis are on sale now haha
I'll definitely go with the sport plus package right off the bat next time

Mine that I pieced together was cheaper... But I didn't get the sway bars because I didn't want them. So yes and no. Haha touché

Well got my GT 500 mounts today, was surprised with the use of plastic. And with my luck one of them showed up broken bummed cuz I could have dry fit everything. I bought strut bellows from Autozone and they fit perfectly. I will post the part number tomorrow with some photos, but $34 to save me labor and time is well worth it since I had already $30 on the Ford Racing Bump Stops.

You don't need camber bolts with p springs.

If you buy ford racing p springs they come with new dust boots for the front struts.

I just install the same setup last week.

our cars should have came with camber bolts from the factory. The 05-09's had terrible inner tire tread wear. I'm not real sure how the 10+ stangs are.

Did the steeda ultralites not perform to your standards? Thanks...

Wasn't going to be a low enough drop. Every picture I've seen of one looks like nothing has happened to the car, or it's just a slight drop. I'm sure they perform great, and steeda makes a great product.

Just and FYI, you can save a little cash by cutting down your stock bump stops to accommodate the lower ride.

Did you do the install yet? Would love to know your results?

Do you guys have a part number for these dust boots you're buying at Autozone?

I walked in there and they looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked them for strut dust boots.

Same response at VIP Auto Parts and the local NAPA

No real luck on Google either ...
