Help needed on K spring install

So, got the rear K springs in, no problem. However, when I got to the fronts it was all well and good even up through removing the strut and spring assembly, but now I can't get the d*mn nut off of the top of the upper strut mount to pull the spring off. I bought new FRPP upper strut mounts, so I don't care about the stock ones, I just can't for the life of me get them off. The issue is that the nut is inset in a well, and has the hex stock of the strut protruding from the middle. To undo the nut I need to hold onto the hex stock, but if I do that I can't get a socket onto the nut, and I can't use an open end wrench because the nut is inset in a well. Is there a specialty tool used to get at this little b*stard or am I doing something completely studpid? Either one would make sense at this point, and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sincerely,
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Is there a plate under the strut mount on the other side that is holding the nut against the metal?

Use an air compressor.....it works wonders and will spin the nut off quick without needing to hold the rod. If not that then use an open ended wrench at an angle while holding the rod.

Thanks for the help all, ended up finding a socket from Kobalt that is open on both ends, with a hex on the outside for an open end wrench to hold it, letting me sneak another socket on a 1/2" pneumatic drive inside of it. End of story: Finished the job and even had time to play before Monday! I'll be posting pictures later tonight if anyone's interested.

It would be nice to see how much it lowers, I didn't hear great things about the K springs.

people had some different results..its advertised as 1.5" front and rear. What I ended up with on my '13 Brembo GT was with 1.75" rear, 1.25" front..which pretty much eliminated the rake

I had heard that people who tracked their cars didn't like the ride.
