When and why are these needed when changing the struts on a regular GT? 2011 GT standard struts at the current time.

Ok thanks. I bought some struts and shocks off a 2012 GT500 Track pack. Those came with the GT500 strut mounts (obviously) so I would assume I need these but its hard finding the correct information.

any truth to installing the GT500 strut mounts with the arrow pointing towards the ENGINE to gain back some camber when lowering vs arrow towards the fender?!

After researching the ford parts website I discovered that the strut mount used on my 2011 GT is used on the 2012 GT500 Track Pack car. The GT500 mount that is being sold is used on the regular GT500. I thought this was odd since the GT500 mount is supposed to be an "upgrade". But the GT mount is used on the Track pack car and not the regular Shelby At this point I think Im going to take apart one side of the car next Thursday and remove the strut and see what mine looks like and see how it lines up with the new one. This may all be pointless anyway since the struts may ride like junk anyway. I will have learned my lesson for sure. But sometimes you have to take a chance. I tried to save a little money by doing this. You would know the Koni Str-T's went on sale like literally the next day after I bought these

I'll be installing mine that way. I've heard it helps to bring camber into spec on a slight drop.

There have been ppl who installed them this way over a yr ago and have reported no ill affect. You should be good, just curious to see if it would be different if you flipped them around and checked the alignment again!>

Interesting. Ill have to remember this next week when I have everything torn apart. Ive been trying to find pictures of the different mounts online and I'm getting nothing. The GT500 mounts are the only ones with pics. There are drawings of the standard GT mounts but nothing that shows why they wouldn't work. I don't have a problem with buying the GT500 mounts but I don't want to if I don't have to.

I just found these pictures. This is the strut mount that is listed on the Ford Parts website as being the standard for the GT and the GT500 With Performance Pack. It looks slightly different than the one for the regular GT500 and maybe it doesn't work because of the bell type housing on the bottom. I guess I will find out next week!

Not sure which bolts your referring to. I bought Eibach camber bolts. I also got a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs, 1 inch drop front and 1.5 in the rear. The shocks were rated for a set of springs with a 1.25" drop all around. After talking with a Ford parts guy and I will be ordering the GT500 mounts tonight. That works out because then I don't need a spring compressor. I can assemble the strut package before hand and install the assembly. Here is a link to where I got the springs. They are the Dub Edition springs but they are actually Eibach Pro-Kit. And you are buying them from Roush Performance. I actually talked with a guy from Roush and these are the real deal.
