F1 Supercar tire noise level
F1 Supercar tire noise level
How noisy are the Goodyear F1 supercar tires that the convertible Brembo cars have? I read the reviews on Tirerack, and the noise level comments are less than stellar. I want a set of summer tires and was quoted a really good price on that tire, but I don't want to listen to a bunch of droning on the highway.

Pickup the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and call it a day.

I have the GY Supercar F1 on my car ( The GT500 version, came with my wheels)
I cant stand the noise and they don't grip very well...even at a 285 width!
I looked at the Pilots and the Contis. The main reason I was considering the F1 Supercars is I can get a set of brand new 255/40/19s that will fit my premium nickel wheels for less than $800. It seemed like a really good deal for a tire that goes for about $250 each normally. Plus you get 6 months to pay at the Goodyear store.
I accept that a sticky summer tire will wear relatively quickly. I just don't want a lot of highway noise. These tires will be in storage probably 7 months out of the year, so I should be able to get at least a few years out of them even if they only lasted 15k miles.
I have the crappy P Zero Neros now, and I just want to put a tire on the car that will give it the snap it should have rather than just spinning through 3 gears like grease. Been looking at Brembo pulls off new cars, but people want insane money for them now. Last time I looked you could get a set with nearly new tires for under 1k shipped. Now all the ones I find are way more than that. Then there's always the Shelby pulls... LOL

Noise levels of a tire in a convertible mustang. You could put mud grips on a vert mustang and not tell the difference in noise. Just buy a tire that sticks to the road. :geez:
I have a vert with these tires and honestly don't notice any noise from the tires, I do hear the birds, the trucks, the trains, the other cars, .......
Also, I feel like they stick pretty good above 50 degrees , I would not run them in the winter.

Will it go on a 9.5 inch rim, yes, should you put it on a 9.5 inch rim, no. You're pushing that tire to do something it wasn't made to do. What size are you specifically going to put on that rim? 295/??/19

it will be fine! They do suggest a 10" + wheel...if they required a 10.5"+ then Id say no.
Let me put it another way. The difference between 295 and 285 is 1 centimeter. Why stretch a tire onto a small rim for 1 centimeter of rubber? Do you think your car will magically stick better with 2 centimeters of ground rubber?
