Disappointed in setup. Did I do something wrong?

Car is a '14 GT. I recently installed Koni STRt's, Steeda Sport springs and Maximum Motorsports camber plates up front and a BMR adjustable panhard in the rear.

Obviously, the STRts are 05-10 and the MM camber plates came with spacers in the hardware to make sure they worked together. Ever since the install, Ive got a clunking noise up front on both sides. I only hear it at low speeds when going over mild road deviations, small potholes, up the driveway. Ive checked all the torque settings, checked my end links, etc, etc. Its driving me crazy. I know I should expect some increased NVH with the camber plates, but this sound makes me not even want to push the handling because something sounds loose.

Im considering losing the camber plates and going with the Steeda HD upper mount. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Did you use the GT500 mounts and swap the CC plates on top of them? Could be that you have a strut nut loose, on the top. Try wiggling the strut under load to see if it will come up and then you can tighten the nut down.

Negative, I used the rubber mount from the stock upper strut mount and transferred that over to the camber plate; basically just the bottom part with the bearing. Strut nut can't get any tighter.

Numerous posts confirm you have to go with the upgraded GT500 strut mounts because reusing the stock ones will clunk as you described...

I saw those, but I thought that was if I was going to use the ENTIRE upper strut mount, not just the bottom?

Pretty sure the bottom is the part with the thick rubber bushing.

Using the Steeda HD Upper Mount would work too...wouldn't it?

I would say no, unless Steeda's HD mount does not require you to use any part of the OEM assembly, like the MM CC plates do. Which it looks like they do not, so they would work.

Vorshlag's CC plates are a complete unit from top to bottom, admittedly a bit pricey but I can report at this time no problems with my mine having had them for a coupla thousand miles and using them on various roads from the fairly smooth roads of Northern VA to the Peninsula to the bombed out Baghdad like crap that passes for roads in the Norfolk / Virginia Beach area..

As much as Vorshlag might be the best possible option I think it may be a little over kill in this application unless OP is thinking of road racing and upgrading more in the future.

Max Motorsports emailed me back, and even though I told them the top nut and end links were torqued to spec, they told me to check both of those. Im thinking of losing the camber plates all together and just going with the GT500 mounts only. Anyone have this setup with Steeda Sports? If so, how far out was the camber?

Not on Steeda springs, but with P springs which I think are a similar drop I was at 1.3 degrees, maybe 1.5 max for you.

I have the ground control plates and they are very quiet. I also know many people with the gt500 mounts that have no issues.

When you rechecked did you loosen the top strut nut and move the strut back and forth to make sure it was seated correctly in there?

Actually, the overkill is so they last on the street. Racing guys just need strength and usually aren't worried about a little ticking. We designed the plate with massive bearings for street longevity in addition to strength for competition.

Ended up replacing the STRts with adjustable Koni yellows and the MM plates with Steeda HD upper mounts. Quiet as a church mouse now up front and the ride actually feels better as well.
