Cracked stock 19" rim. Co$tly!
It's that time again folks.
The inevitable: "turning off traction control is a smart idea".
Annnnddddddd I hit a curb.
Don't worry. Empty road, no pedestrians around. No danger to anyone except myself, and my pride, ... And my car.
So, in short, I wrecked my rim. Cracking a fair sized chunk out of the lip, and causing damage to the spoke itself.
Also, bent my solid rear-axle, wrecked the wheel hub and some other damage. All this from a standing stop, turning left and a full 360 degree rotation.
Anyway, my local Ford dealership quoted me at $1200 for the rim replacement, $500 for the tire, and the rest was parts and labour and misc. All together $3600
Does anyone have a 19" to sell between now and June?
1) I've looked at matching the rim with aftermarket from American Muscle, and their rims do come close in style.
2) for $1200 I can buy a full set of used "19 rims.
3) I've also looked at Vossen wheels, but just waiting a few months to pull the trigger.
I'll post some pics if possible.
Regards,
Joe .K

I reckon I'd get 4 new aftermarket wheels of my choice and sell the other three stock rims to recoup some cost.
Heck maybe you can offer the other three to the dealer at 50 cents on the dollar to their price. Lol

Yeah I know. I called a few Ford dealerships and they all say the same price.
I thought about selling the rims... But I have no idea what they go for.
They are the polished aluminum rims. 1000 Kms on them/65 days old (car is now in storage) .
Plasti dipped from day one.
But I have no idea of their value?
So, I'm debating finding that particular used rim to complete my set, or just sell them this summer and purchase some aftermarket rims.
I don't have the brembos, so just reading the forums to see what size rims to go with.
Probably a staggered fitment. But I have 6 more months of winter to decide that stuff.
Yeah, it was quite the expensive fix. I ended up paying $1300 for parts and repairs. And lesson learned: don't drive like a douche, and showing off gets you nowhere.

You guys think that's bad? My friend, who works at a bar, had his '13 V6 taillight smashed by some jerk face. He said the bulbs were fine, just a little loose. But he showed me the quote from Ford and my jaw hit the floor. I THINK he said it was almost $2400 to get the replacement + the labour to reinstall a replacement taillight.
Last time I checked, our cars weren't made from gold.

And here is his bill for just the bulb replacement I think?, not including labour OR the one-piece plastic bezel.

What are these guys smoking at the dealerships? Sorry to hear you smacked into a curb. Hope you find another alternative to what they are charging you. If you are mechanically inclined you could get all the parts yourself and do the repair for WAY less.

Thanks. I thought about that route, but just to save myself the time and hassle, plus I don't have a garage with a lift.
But I do want to help my friend replace his taillight, or find a cheaper alternative. Junkyard? Aftermarket?

I hit a ladder on the highway the first week I got my car and split a rim. Bought a used one on Ebay for $200 and a used tire for $100 and called it good. Not sure if Ebay is an option for you though, but you can always find single rims there.

When I bought my car they offered me a wheel & tire warranty which covers any damage done to wheels or tires such as curbing or blow outs. The finance lady even said it covers aftermarket equipment, I asked her because I was planning on putting different wheels & tires. You didn't get that package when you bought your car?

I think we're both looking into EBay. At least for his lights. He has filed a police report and such with that incident.
I however, might keep looking on EBay for a single wheel (depends on shipping costs to western Canada)
I passed on that wheel and tire coverage. :-(
Right now I'm just sticking with small do-it-yourself mods. Grabber blue shifter ****. Maybe get the roush leather seats GB covers.
Also, looking at a billet grill. I've been debating the blackout billet grill for the GT I saw on American Muscle. (Its 7 bars) vs the roush blackout grill on American muscle (5 bars but little more expensive) vs a billet grill I saw on eBay that is a 6 piece billet grill. (10 bars, upper, lower, plus the fog light locations)
Any opinions? Functionality isn't the #1 for me for this particular mod. It's more of an aesthetic mod.
I'll post links to the three.

Basically, I want you guys and girls to decide FOR me

The 2015 has LED taillights. The style of the units are obviously different.
"The triple LED taillights and blacked-out surround are a graceful evolution from the current styling..."
