2013 MUSTANG GT , I finished my mods.... yeah right
Finally after exactly one month, my new spoiler arrived!
It looks good! The package was delivered by UPS (who I think had an issue with the tracking system, as I only saw the package being delivered. No other status updates were available). The box was not particularly sturdy, but the contents of the box were packaged very well.
Now I need to find some time between now and Sunday to remove the old spoiler and install this piece of art. Any hints for quick and good removal without damage to the old spoiler? I may be able to sell it to someone who didn't have a spoiler.

Yesterday I spent some quality time with my car :-)
I took of the old spoiler and installed the new 3DCarbon GT500 spoiler. The double sided sticky tape...sure sticks. Wow!
Anyway I am so happy with the result. I think this new spoiler balances the way the rear of the car looks. Ever since I got the quad GT500 exhaust, the underside of the rear seems to look much more aggressive than the top half of the rear. I feel that this larger spoiler fixed that.
Patrick took a picture of me leaving BlackHawk Cars&Coffee today.

DarrenGT's Mustang is influencing my convertible mods to some degree, and I plan on the GT500 spoiler as well, along with Forgestar-style wheels and a rethinking of stripes which I had orginally decided against. But that GT500 spoiler is going to be next.
After my wife
started complaining about the wheel hop, it was not difficult to decide that something needs to be done about it.
I have ordered a set of BMR lower control arms. Let's see if that helps. Otherwise, I'll also replace the upper control arm.
Again, the waiting on these parts is always the most difficult thing. I wish there was just a store with mustang goodies close to me....

I have the LCA's. I've not been able to install them,as I have been recovering from a hernia surgery. Torquing down bolts, or jacking up the car would not be a good idea.
So while I'm patiently recovering, I ordered a Steeda CAI and tune. Still looking at brake upgrades:
Brembo package brakes (M-2300-S, 4 piston calipers, 1 piece rotors)
Or the 15" 6 piston kit, that also upgrades the rear rotors. (M-2300-T)
The difference in price is quite large. I'm not tracking the car, just having fun on the back roads of California. Nice things to think about while being home.

Call me silly, but with brakes, I only want new parts.
By the way, the kit M-2300-T, costs under $1800 new.
Steeda
Well, today the FedEx delivery man brought my box of goodies...
It contained a Steeda CAI and an SCT X4 tuner.
So, even though I will probably not be able to install this weekend, as I'm still recovering, I thought it could never hurt to take a closer look at the tuning device.
When I finally got Windows 7 running in VMWare Fusion, I hooked up the tuner. The device was able to communicate with Windows, through my iMac and everything was nice an dandy. Until I noticed the following:
an 87 octane tune and a 93 octane tune
what the heck? I ordered a 91 octane tune next to the 87 tune. 91 octane is the highest available octane level for gas in California. I am 100% sure I put it in the initial tuning request form, because I made the remark about 91 being the highest available octane, there as well.
When they make a mistake like this.... what does that mean for the tune itself? Did they take into account any of my input? How can I be sure, the 87 tune is actually 87 and not 93 as well.... things start racing through my mind, and I'm not comfortable with tuning my baby this way.
I logged a ticket on their website. Hopefully they will get back to me with some conclusive answers that do give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
This and the very slow and odd response I got from the sales department left me with mixed feelings about Steeda. TJ had asked the sales people to get in touch with me (within a minutes after I reached out to him). I had to reach out to TJ another time to say, that nobody contacted my. TJ was kind enough to give me a discount code, so I could at least get the order for the CAI and tuner going. A week later the sales finally got around to reaching out to me, via email one liners! The only answer was that the prices on Ford Racing parts are, as they are listed on the website. I thought I'd be kind enough to reply to him, telling him, there must be something in it, as the same parts are listed on other sites, for a few hundred dollars less (even including the links to them). He only got back to me, replying that someone was ill and he has a backlog in his email..... I guess they don't want more of my business?!

Today, I received a new file. The folks at Steeda had checked everything, and it seemed that the only thing that happened was that by accident they used the wrong file name. The tune itself was apparently ok....
Anyway, I installed the CAI, uploaded the tune, and did a test drive.
Wow, it's a big difference. Maybe also because of the amount of extra noise that is produced by the air intake when you really get on it.
The only minor snag is that the firewall plug (to replace the sound tube) did not fit. It was way too small. When I tried to fit it, I needed to pick it up on the inside of the car. It fell right through ! For now, I used some duck tape to close the hole, until Steeda sends the correct plug.
For the rest, the CAI looks like a quality piece of equipment. I especially like the MAF housing, which is made from aluminum. There is a rubber seal, that sits, between the black powder coated metal heat shield and the hood, to minimize the amount of air from the engine bay to be sucked in. As to the tune: I needed to run some errands with my wife. And I just couldn't find any place to really get on it. When I finally got to a piece of road that just winds up the mountain, and I know very well.... a police car pulled up in front of me, driving 45MPH. This weekend I'll find some time.

Thanks TJ, I sent an email to Matt, regarding the firewall plug. I hope he can organize a better fitting one for me. I tried to CC you in the email, but your email adres was different than I thought, so you didn't receive it.
No problem ... if you want to forward it to me at tim@steeda.com I can track it with Matt.
Best Regards,
