2013 Version of Gotta Have it Green...
An alternative is finding a group of 5 or more who are interested to participate in a collective and order their cars simultaneously through one dealer who is willing to put in the legwork towards Ford.
I'm absolutely game for grabber orange or screaming yellow. So we are already with two I suppose? Who's next?!
It's actually quite amazing no dealer has stepped into this, ordered 10 grabber orange mustangs and offer them at a premium. They WILL sell.

If would be great to get 5 people to go in on this, but only one person would be able to have their names on all the cars (and loan if it went that far).
Heck, years ago, when I ordered my car, I sent an email to Jim Owens who was the brand manager of the Mustang back in 2005 (he left to work for Shelby and is now back with Ford again) via our Dealer boards (I had his email address) to see if I could get my car painted Highland Green (they offered it on F250 trucks in 2005 and 2006. I knew the answer before I sent it, but wanted to see what he said. He said he wished they could but wasn't allowed (but loved my idea of making a 2006 Bullitt tribute). So even they know people want this option.
Personally, Ford could make a BOATLOAD of money, if they offered a "customization" program like what the highlines do. I would gladly pay $1,000 at minimum for the option of having the factory painting my car a color not on the Mustang palate, but available on another Ford car (I really like Blue Candy on the Focus. Would look awesome on a Mustang GT). It isn't hard to do, as the paints are available and could be shipped ahead of time for the production. Just a thought.
Ericc, the only problem with this, is that the order can't be split up. They all have to be purchased together, I believe. I don't deal with fleet sales, so I don't know the specifics, but if a company wants 15 F150s in a certain color (like ServPro and their bright green F150s) they all have to be purchased together and titled in the same name.

What if a dealer titled it in their name, then sold/transfered the titles to the respective owners? Of course making the owner pay any title/transfer/tax fees + maybe small mark up for their trouble. Aren't margins on cars usually pretty thin? $500 markup times 5 buyers could make it worth it right? I mean simple things like dealer prep or vin etching is offered at some dealers and customers are forced to pay the up charge from dealer, so this would be a win-win.
Then it would have to be sold as a used vehicle, and even if it has no miles on it, its still a used vehicle as far as its value. I know I wouldn't give full price for a vehicle that would never be a one owner. But that's just me.
But it could potentially be a 1 of 5 car. You wouldn't buy it in your most favorite color just because of a technicality? Carfax and what not would still show that car was transferred between owner 1 and 2 with 0 miles. With first owner being a dealer.
When I'm rich I will buy 5 mustangs in whatever colors you guys want. Chances are I'll want one of the special color too. Personally I think the new metallic browns Ford is putting out would look great on the 2010+ body style...

Btw do I see a Screaming Yellow 2013 with a ridiculous rear spoiler in the background there?

edit >> actually, it may be something other than a boss. maybe just a show car. the bottom portion of the rear fender is black in the car on that show room floor, but on the 2013 Boss its black.
2 more pictures, I wont link to prevent spamming thread, so click to see

Yeah you're right, The lighter yellow pics were probably taken with a phone cam. For some reason those usually botch up any yellow hue to something more light.
I have seen so many variants of School Bus Yellow pictures now (varying from quite yellow to almost orangy) that I'm really curious to see what it looks like in person. My guess would be that it's going to be a lot closer to grabber orange than to screaming yellow.

Good eye. But I think it may be a School Bus Yellow Boss with a weird wing?
