X-Brace Sourcing...

Has anyone happened upon a source and availability yet for the X-Brace? If Boss LS cars are being delivered, that means cars are now out there getting wrecked and needing new parts. Granted, it may be difficult to bend that piece unless you got hit by a train...but my point still stands. TIA!

X brace on the GT convertible

There was a post somewhere that showed the GT convertible having the same (or nearly the same) X brace behind the rear seat in a Ford Manual drawing. Has anyone pursued that avenue?

I was the source for that post. The brace appears in the 2011 shop manual, but it was not offered in the actual cars.

Lets hope no one has wrecked a Boss LS yet. Surely, there must be a company that makes a similar cross brace that would do the job. You would just need the mounting locations to install a similar brace.

Local Fabrication

I work with a Metal fabricator here in Michigan. I'm pretty sure he would be willing to fab up a prototype that will fit behind the rear seat, Powder coated red or black. If I can get this fab'ed up, what do you think the market price for such an item would be?

Hmm...interesting. Saw that happen with the X-pipe for the 2011. Was there, then listed as 'no longer offered' or something like that...then poof, back on again. Then I finally bought it. Maybe they are trying to sort out production and spares before they open the door with some parts.

I'd be interested if you came up with something that didn't lose your rear seats.

It's not cheap to go the LS-style rear seat delete, is it?

If there is an LS in Southeast Michigan that would be willing to let me look at the X brace, that would be helpful. PM me if your willing. I am going to try and have one Fab-ed up. Probably won't be till, the end of May or June. I'll be sure and Post Pics,

The X-brace was never listed as an FRPP item, but it was in the 'FRPP Parts" thread as an OEM item. The OEM parts were handed over to 05stangkc now that he's back. Ford has not provided a price for the X-brace.

There is a rumour that the supplier is barely able to supply enough braces for production, so none will be available via the parts-channel for some time to come.

I think Bossdog is on to something good. With all the 5.0 liter GT Mustangs on the street, I would think there would be a good market for an after market cross brace in similar deminsions as the Boss LS. Make the brace better by having it removable. Mustang GT drivers can join in the fun and have a Boss LS lookalike.

How about a panel? Does the same job as the X brace and the seats can still be put it.

Maybe in the neighborhood of $200 for the brace alone?
