Would this bother you?

I recently got my car back after having been in the body shop for 3 weeks to fix a paint issue with the hood. The entire hood was resprayed, and so new stripes had to be applied. Initially, I detected a small bump under one of the stripes, but it was small enough to ignore and I wasn't going to say anything until I came across a bubble which is clearly visible in the attached photo (also note another very small bump below the bubble).

My question is this: would this bother you if it was your car? I fully intend on driving this car daily, so I know it's going to get nicked up over time, but I'd still like to at least try to keep it as pristine as possible. The dealer has been great so far, and I'm currently waiting to hear back from them on how they're going to handle this.

yes it would. a pin and a little pressure would fix it in less then a minute tho. Think of it like an air pimple

The larger, upper bubble can be easily resolved by an experienced person. An experienced graphics guy would take an ordinary razor blade and insert in along the edge of the graphic to slightly lift it. The bubble can then be pushed out using the edge of a credit card. If the bottom bubble bothers you, a VERY small pin ***** would solve it.

Which reminds me of a story:

Did you hear the one about the nurse who was fired because she was always getting orders backwards? Seems like the doctor told her to ***** some guy's boil.

Not true. I had this with my 2012 on the side stripe and was told by someone on this forum to leave it and it will go away...something to do with the paint curing.

Here is the thread: https://themustangsource.com/f813/bu...overed-496666/

and yes it went away on my 2012 and I had two smaller bubbles.

The razor and credit card trick works. It is what we did in my friend's custom vinyl shop all the time. Also, heating it before trying to lift it will make it tacky and easier to reset after the bubble has been removed. Like others said, just use a pin and pop it. With a credit card you can flatten the bubble entirely.

you paid for good work and you deserve it. If it was free or a friend was doing it for free or greatly reduced cost I would over look it....... when they quoted the job did they say its this much but there might be a bubble or two in the stripes? Nope! Get what you paid for!

additionally, you paid 40+ for a car, is it too much to ask to have bubble free decals? I had bubbles in my side stripes and they dealer I took it too put up no fight at all to work on getting it right, as the service manager agreed if it were his car, he would want it to be flawless also.

Many thanks to you all. I'm not going to try to fix it myself, but I will certainly try "leave it out in the the sun" idea as the other thread suggested and leave the rest up to the dealer. I'm relieved to hear that this might be able to be fixed without replacing the stripes.

Thanks again!

Looks like there is also something under the stripe towards the bottom of the pic?

Wouldn't be acceptable to me at all. Just curious, why was the hood repainted to begin with?

Yep - and there's another one just like it in a different area. I could live with those little bumps, but the bubble is just too large to ignore.

Here's a picture of the original paint issue. I noticed this the day after I got the car home. You can see two yellow blemishes along the lower side of the hood vent, and a blob of paint in the 1st opening on the left. Not shown is another yellow blemish that was not part of the vent, as well as a chip on the passenger side of the hood.

One thing I'm concerned about is that a new yellow spec has appeared on the driver's side hood vent. It's not bad enough to do something about, but I did alert the dealer to it just so I have a record of it in case it gets worse.
