Will the 2012 Boss become as collectible as its long lost brothers?
The first go-round they were just limited edition performance models that ran face first into the arab oil embargo and insurance company profits. I believe that the number of survivors of our 'repeats' will be a much higher percentage than before because every owner is aware of the potential collectability of these cars. Not to mention that with the nanny state we are living in the odds of Ford or any mfgr daring to make real hot rods again in 20-30 years are not good. Thank God they did it this time.

I think I'm going to buy a Boss just so I can be rich someday. These things will be worth more than any other investment could possibly be. Even paying insurance, tags, etc. it will out perform anyone's wildest ideas of what an investment should be.
Screw stocks, land, houses, etc. I'm buying Bosses to fund my golden years.

It's a different time...and in 20-50 years it will be a different time. We won't even have cars anymore. It'll be little self driven pods on tracks. You get in, type in your destination and sit back while big brother knows exactly where you are, where you're going, who you're with, at all times. If we even have gas, it'll be $20/gallon and only available at "select locations."

I barely drove mine and now I am selling it. I have never driven mine in rain. It was stored away during the winter. Now, I am going to sell it and someone else will enjoy it for a cheaper price than what I paid for it.
Wish I had taken mine to more car shows.
Enjoy while you can.

The Boss 429, Boss 351, Boss 302, Mach 1. Some of our favorite mustangs ever, right? What makes them so valuable and collectible? The answer: the demand for it. And usually the more rare, the more valuable the car is. My question is what will be the most rare color combinations and options for the 2012/2013 Ford Boss 302? What I think will be rare or valuable:
- 2012 Ford Boss 302 Laguna Seca silver w/ red stripes.
- 2012 Ford Boss 302 Competition Orange w/ white stripes.
- 2012 Ford Boss 302 w/ vin #1
- 2012 Ford Boss 302 w/ vin #302
the next critical question,
Why does demand go up for a 50's and 60's cars?
(and not 70's or 80's cars)
ANSWER: "fond memories"
Tell me know many of you have said this or heard this:
"I remember as a kid, my neighbor had a *****ing ______ and it was fast and I always wanted one"
or
"I remember the trans am races when they drove near "stock"/factory cars and man that was some good racing.."
"I remember seeing the racing of factory cars and the battle between Fords, Chevys and Mopar"
" I remember my 1974 Mustang II what a POS that was, I miss my 1969 Mustang..."
..........and on and on it goes....
Just because it's old and small build numbers doesn't NOT make it valuable in the future
...IE 2000 Cobra R, 1992 Typhoons/Cyclones, any year Dodge Shelbys
Years from now, will your kid say:
"man my neighbor had a 2012 Boss 302 it it was super fast...FASTER than the Mustangs that came AFTER it..."

Why mod an LS is what I want to know??? unless you're beefing it up for regular track use, but to each his own as long as you keep your stock parts. I ran a 12.17 this last weekend with a paper air filter and all and darn happy to do so!

investment
... I think ... in this economy ... given the time value of money ... inflation ... economic down turn ... to have a small investment in something that is bound to increase in value by factor of 10-20 over list is a sound investment ... much better than stock market! ... very safe ... worse case it doubles in value.
at least that's what I told wifey ... seems to have worked so far

Assume you can get them for 50k on avg. Buy 2975 of the 3000ish production run of each year. That's an investment of a paltry 295 million. Then you can arrange "statistically correct" demises for most the cars over the years and collect the insurance payout to offset purchase investments. Then when you want to retire sell the remaining cars for a healthy premium over purchase price due to their increased rarity.
I think this plan has legs...

This question came up during last night's broadcast of the Mecum auction. They said that the production numbers of the current generation are so much higher than those of the 60's generation that they doubted that they would ever bring buying prices like the originals do. But who knows what 50 years will bring?
Very doubtful cause its long lost brothers were made very well. (Not saying that the new ones aren't) but the older generations were solid and didn't have so much b.s to them. New stuff doesn't require as much labor and aren't made with as much detail and care as back in the day. So that's why i think it is very doubtful, but that is just my opion and everyone knows what opinions are like :P
