nope, they were right on. Well maybe they could have been a few mm further out on the front, back was dead on any further out and they protrude. i think that is as close as the TSws get for front wheels though. I think the black enki wheels someone else mentioned would look pretty good too. im thinking of getting a set for drag strip and track.

also i got a wheel/road hazard warranty with my car that will replace any wheel or tire on the car if they get damaged, so if you curb a factory wheel they replace it or curb your track wheels on the way to the track they replace that too. pretty cool

 

We know there are 18s that clear. What about 19s? Obviously we can order the Laguna Seca wheels in black/polished from FRPP. Are there other choices? I have a set of 18s but am thinking about a second set of 19s to maintain the gearing and the factory speed limiter. 18s will change both of these significantly in a 30 or 35 profile.

SVT PP and TSW Nurburing wheels fit. PP come in 9 & 10 widths and TSW come in 9 & 9.5 widths.

 

as long as the 18" wheel and tire are the same overall diameter you will be fine. AFAIK the factory 19" wheels and the 18" with 255/45 front and 285/40 rears are teh same overall diameter. my speedo and everythign was dead on on my 10.

 

You'll be on truck tires to get the same overall diameter. Most track tires are low profile. The closest setup I've been able to pull off is Nitto 555RII 305/35/18 and 285/35/18. It gets you within 1/2". My preference of a 295/30/18 R6 is 25.3" tall a full 1.8" shorter than the stocker! I'm going to find a set of 19s and may just go with the FRPP wheels above despite their weight. Could run a 295/30/19 and 265/35/19 which are 26.1" tall each. That's still 1" smaller than stock even on a 19" wheel. At least the light R6s help offset some of the wheel weight

 

The SVT PP wheels are approximately two pounds lighter per wheel than the LS wheels and they cost about $700 more per set. I was informed that the TSW wheels are not as strong as the Ford options I've mentioned but they should be fine for street use.

Only $11 more for the rear 19s in the R6. Only about $300 more for the Pirelli Corsas!!!

 

For a couple pounds I'd probably just spend 1/2 as much for the LS wheels.

 

Yeah those Corsas are not cheap. I bet most LS owners will use P Zeros for the street. If I replace my wheels with the SVT wheels I'll use the stock wheels for the track. I've read the 19 inch tires were a LOT more expensive but that doesn't look to be true.

 

Thats one of the reasons I was looking into 18's. So if the price is not that much of a difference than maybe I'll stick with 19's.

Technically those are not LS wheels. The red LS wheels go for about $500 each. It's been confirmed that other fhan color they are the same.

 

It's somewhat of a conundrum. 19s will work the best for gearing, however there are very few tire choices. If you're going to run Hoosiers or R888s, then it makes sense to run 19s. If you run 18s you can get those plus Nittos (NT01 or 555RII), BFG R1s, Yokohama Advans, Kumhos, Hankooks and several slicks.

I'm going to end up with a set of each so will be able to experiment with different tires. The gearing/speed limiter issue is only on the biggest tracks.

Why not run the 18" BBS wheels and continental slicks that are run in the continental series?

 

1) BBS wheels are twice the cost of Enkeis.

2) Continental slicks aren't available new only to race teams. I wasn't able to find takeoffs anywhere but would be interested if you have a source.

3) The Boss 302 suspension is not tuned the same as the 302R so each would respond differently to different tire setups. The 302R presumably has a fully adjustable suspension that the teams can tune for a square setup.

 

What about the brembo wheels that come on the mustang gt. I know they are 19. They also come in black.
