What are all of those tall things, and why isn't the track layout flat?
Oh yea, its not in the midwest, so trees and rolling terrain are the norm rather than the exception.
Have fun tearing up the course.

Jesus tracks his car at VIR..... The place is awesome. The property is beautiful, the facilities are very nice, and the track flat out rocks! I want to thank Dean for the great instruction. It allowed me to leave in one piece and we had a pretty good last session....

For anyone that can make it I would HIGHLY recommend it. I am looking into running there again soon....

I agree, it's an awesome place! Plus, there is nothing like seeing the speedometer slip past 150.

You did great out there. It was pretty interesting hearing your splitter hitting the pavement under heavy braking. And yes, our last session that we both went out was a blast!

Great pics Dean. Thanks for posting. Was the 302S really hanging with the GT or is that early in the session?

Both the 302S and the GT were on Hoosiers and the S was hanging with the GT except for on the straights. Honestly, the GT was taking it easy in the corners though. Not really slow but "slow enough not to wreck a $150K car but still have fun" slow.

I will say that the 302S would walk me on the long straights. Some of it was higher corner speeds going on to the straights but you could tell that it had some extra ponies. Not sure what they are supposed to weigh.

We wish we would have had it dynoed on Saturday.

Good point, and why I don't think about it in the Boss. I keep forgetting that's why I don't have a GT. A $40k bad day is one thing, but $150k and I'd get the ban hammer for sure from the wife.

Yep, that was Joe.

I'll have some videos to post once I find a good video editor for MPEG-4.
Adam finally shamed me into getting my GoPro out of the box. Got it mounted and shot a few videos.

Thanks Adam!

I wouldn't be surprised if the 302s is as fast as the GT. Dean Martin from Rehagen Racing wheeled an S to a tune of 2:02 on the full course at VIR....

This was my first trip to VIR, and as I have said in the past I have a lot to learn. I managed a best lap at 2:15 on the full course with 2:17 - 2:18 consistently on the last day. Following Dean on that last session was not only a blast but one of the most educational sessions of the weekend. I was finally able to put together, at least for the most part, everything he was telling me.

Again thanks Dean! But next time I will have the grill mod as well....

The 302R is 3,200 lbs due to spec limits. I think the 302S is in that ballpark.

You're welcome! We should have done the lead/follow earlier.

BTW - fixed your quote.
