nasa is a good place to start,

but if you are going to one of there events, make sure they are not running any racing at the event.

that is where the sessions get cut or lost do to track incidents!

my first event was a nasa event at roebling road. james ray was my instructor. he is a big time mustang sponsored guy. he got to ride and teach me the power line in my rx8.. great guy great instruction!!!!

issue happened on day two,, one of the racers went bad. i lost a session and a half on my second day..

my nasa tip of the day..

beers

Our NASA RM events are never without the racers -- they're the primary paying force into the coffers for renting the track time. Apparently it's three instructor duty weekends for one free weekend if you're a racer, but if a time trialer or HPDE4 guy I think it's 1:1 or 2:1, meaning even if the majority of the instructors are racers, they're still paying for track time. Not so if they're HPDE or time trialers, who can more easily get the free weekend.

There's a certain minimum number of entrants needed to make the break-even point on the track rental and safety crew, and our RM region has been struggling recently achieving this.

So unless there are massive TT and HPDE turnouts (which makes it quite crowded on track for those groups), the racers are helping provide the track time.
