What do you use for a FRONT tie down point?
Rear is a no brainer...but where do you tie down to on the front of the car to keep from damaging the front splitter? Trying to figure out where to latch onto this beast when I strap it to the trailer this weekend.
Look into the front of the front wheelwell, there is a hole in the frame there that you can latch a hook to. Should be right above your brake ducts.
You might look into something like this.

Under the "Roadside Emergencies" Transportation instructions (05+). It states the following: "When towing the vehicle, ensure that you use two mini J hooks and adhere them to the crossmember oblong holes as shown. Other methods may damage the vehicle."
This is where I strap the front end and it clears the front splitter. Make sure you cross the straps. I wish I could post this to show the picture, but it is easily accessible just behind the front tire. I'd like to know where everyone is strapping the rear.

Drew, do you have a rail in the trailer to use those T-Hooks up front? I have found no use for them unless you can strap from there straight down. I posted a pic of them here. https://themustangsource.com/f813/wh...3/#post6080894
I have strapped the rear axle with a set of axle straps I got from Truck and Tow, then cross them with normal straps. The front I just wrap the LCA's and run the straps to the hooks at the front of the trailer, clears the splitter well. You do need to make sure you get the strap on the inner side of the LCA because it has sharp edges near the outside.
Another way Don is to strap through the rims but you can end up scuffing them so I have not tried that.
I like to pull the car up and that has been a bigger problem for me. I modified an existing hole in the cross-member behind the engine to fit a T-Hook but found the metal too weak and starting to bend after the last haul. This was a good location since the cable was not at a bad angle for the splitter. I am planning to make a piece of metal to weld over this same area with a T-hook size hole. I think this will work well and if anyone is interested I can post some pictures later. I would love to have the hook up front through the bumper but can not get myself to cut a hole it it.

Have y'all thought about a tow hook bracket? I bought one of these from this Shelby site guy, but am wondering about the overall strength of the front bumper (the FR500S and all have a different front bumper beam, I assume it's stronger and built for the tow hook).
The SVT guys have a long discussion about it as well.

How big is your garage???
Mine's tied down right now ready to head out this afternoon. I use two 5' straps around the front LCAs. I hook them to the winch to get it on the trailer, then move them to ratchet straps for transport. I also cross them. I've been tying down my GT500 this way for the last four years and this is the 5th trip for the Boss already.
I use 3' straps on the rear axle crossed at the diff. On the passenger side, I rotate the top part of the strap 1/2 turn to the left so it sits flat against the diff when tightened. On the drivers side the top part of the strap goes over the panhard and sway bar and the lower part between the panhard bar and the sway bar.

The 2009 135 is getting replaced in Aug by a Euro Del 328xiT (all wheel drive wagon) for wife and then I am adding a 1M in Sept.
The 335i, 91 vert and 89 325is will all be sold soon. Likely the 01 330ci track/daily drive will too. Time to thin the herd abit!
That's how my friend ties down his 5.0 with Enkei PF01 wheels. No go on the stockers with the tight spoke pattern and sharp edges I don't think.....

Gary, just out of curiosity how does that trailer pull, no swaying. It looks like you have 2/3's of the car in front of the wheels center point. I am guessing you have atleast 70% of the cars weight forward.
Josh, thanks for the info. I have just started to read but he is saying this will fit a CS with not modification at all to the outer bumper and lower facade? If so I want one.
Anyone else like this idea for the Boss?

I think someone on the Shelby site was going to try it on the 2010 up bumper, but haven't seen a pic yet. They were referring to the 05-09 CS, I believe.
Wouldn't be the best for tie down, but would help in winching onto the trailer.

Ford Racing makes tie downs for these cars. The rears bolt on thru the frame and the fronts weld on to the k member. These are the same as they use on the R and S cars. I think the rears are $68 a set and the fronts are $74. If you are going to trailer do it correctly with frame tie downs.
