Trade in value of a Boss
I'm looking to trade in my 2013 Boss Laguna Seca and I need to know that the trade in value is. Looking to go back to a Shelby. The only offer I got was for $40k without seeing it. Not a good offer. Any help would be good. Thanks.

Just curious what is driving you back to a Shelby...I just got out of my Shelby and into a 2013 Boss. There are things I miss but a lot that I love. I admit, I do miss my Shelby and seeing her on the Dealers lot almost brought a tear to my eye.
As far as the trade in value, depends on the mileage a lot but if you want the best deal my guess is working with the dealer you plan to buy the Shelby will net the best price. That has been my experience anyways.

as the owner of the same car, let me offer this nugget of info to think about. right now, you one have 1 of approximately 1600 cars that will ever be made. The program is dead as it sits right now. I have verified this with a good friend who is product engineer at ford. I knew about the program 5 years ago, which allowed me the time to get my ducks in row to get exactly what I wanted.
In 20 years you will have a huge case of regret if you move forward. The shelby may have the creature comforts, and the big engine. But the 302 has the heritage and true exclusivity that the new shelby's will never have.
if all you care about is top speed, leather seats and navigation, then by all means get rid of it. if you care about have a piece of history sitting in your garage when you're 65 years old, you should keep it.

I'm looking to go back to a 2011 or 12 Shelby. Unfortunately I can't afford a 2013. The car only has about 1000 miles on it. I do like my Boss but I hate the clutch. I find myself putting in first instead of reverse. I miss the comfort that the Shelby has and the torque. The LS is a track car that I'm probably never going to track. Both are great cars but the Shelby is easier to live with everyday.

I would search online and see what they are selling for on the used market. Then either negotiate with the dealer and try to get closer to that price or sell on the used car market. You should be able to get more selling on your own. The dealer will give you 40k put it on the lot for around 52k and will end up selling it for some where above 45k. I wish I had a Shelby to trade u for but I only have a Boss. You should keep it like Crazy Brain said.Or You will regret it 20 years from now.Either way let us know how it works out.

More along the lines of answering the question regarding trade in price, I did sell cars in former life. all dealers use NADA black book, i dont have access to this anymore, but KBB rough price is pretty close to that number.
going online a '12 boss, with no LS option listed (not sure why they don't have it) books out at $32k for rough. using this as a guide, a 13 LS with under 5k miles will garner somewhere in the neighborhood of $40k plus or minus 3k depending on the dealer, car condition, etc. the private offer you got of $40K is low for a person to person sale, but pretty close to what you will get on trade.
I would start at $51K for private sale but not go any lower than $48K. if you paid an ADM, don't figure it into the selling price. you won't be able to pass that on to the next guy, you can try, but it wont happen.
hope this helps.

I was spitballing trading mine, a non-Ford dealer offered me $38k for my non-LS sight unseen (with 8-9k miles). I'd say a Laguna could do $42k in trade. Definitely $45k private if the miles are very low. $50k is pretty optimistic IMO.

Your problems are not with the clutch. They are with the god awful shifter that Ford put in the BOSS. Install an MGW shifter and I promise you that all of your shifting woes will be gone.
A shifter is the only mod that your car actually NEEDS.

This thread is funny. Boss guys asking "but why?" Some people just like horsepower guys. Lol. That MGW won't add 150hp. I don't see why an even swap for a slightly used 12 Shelby can't be made at a dealer.

I have a Boss with a MGW and I find myself 80% of the time going into first when trying to get reverse.
I also traded a friend for. 2011 ShelbyGt 500 for a hr, and I really loved it.
I would take either car, my dealer wouldn't give me A plan on the Shelby even though they could have, it's dealers decision .
I would have been in a Shelby if the would have given me the Ford Employee discount.

correction...
dealers DO NOT USE NADA as banks use NADA for loan values. Most dealers today use market evaluation tools like VAuto, Quick Turn, etc that use market days supply, value% to market, Manheim, and other auction RESULTS to price cars REAL TIME. I don't care how few were buil,t if there is a 200 day supply no dealer is going to put top dollar in the car. On the other hand is there is a 20 day supply right now you can buy for more money as it's in demmand. On a 2013LS in the NE market a 5000 mile wholesale trade is $41000. Retail would be $44-44500. As far as KBB...well they can lag upwards of 60 days behind the true market conditions as its based on insurance evaluations and purchases. When gas goes up its most noticeable on fuel sippers...

I'm just telling the guy what I know from personal experience. we literally had a black book from NADA delivered each month. I held it in my hand and used it, this was back around 2005. A comparison of numbers at the time showed NADA was almost the same as KBB rough price.

My trading experience has been all over the place, that's why I asked the question. They normally go with what the car is going for at auction. I was wondering if someone had access to that info. When I traded in my 2006, the first offer I got was $12000 in 2009. I ended up getting $16600 for it. My first offer for my 2011 Shelby was $36000 and in ended up getting $41000 for it. I hate dealing with dealers because they always lowball me on my trade. I would not take less that $45000 for it. The few I've seen used have sold in less that three weeks. I don't want to trade it that bad to take a big loss. Thanks for the info.
