Track prepping my boss for it's first time out!

I never introduced myself, so here is a quick intro...

This is my first ford and just traded in my z4m for the boss with very little regret, mainly BMW badge

Recent past of sports cars were 05/07 350z, 300 srt8, 997.1, and my beloved z4m

I only have a dozen track days under my belt and hope to change that with my boss, which was also the main reason why I purchased it. The low cost of entry, low cost of maintenance and replacement parts, and excellent driving dynamics made this a no brained for me.

I'm heading out to streets of willow on 11/27 and have done the following mods...

Tiger racing fg hood(hopefully picking it up today)
Camber bolts w/ -2 dialed in and 1/8 toe out
Odyssey pc680 battery(14lbs)
Opened up the fog lights for venting
Ford racing brake vents
Dot4 brake flush (over th counter pep boys fluid)
Castrol 5w-50
Redline mtl tranny
Redline 75-140 in the diff(before or after track event? 1200 mi currently)

Roadwrap all over the bumper, hood, and behind the tires

Future track mods....
Bbs 18x9.5 square
Hankook rs3
Suspension( undecided on tire setup )
tranny cooler scoop

Mssing anything?

I've been running Motul 650 both for tranny and brakes
SUPER cheap insurance,
though fluid is a bit pricey WELL worth it

battery swap

how much did the stock battery you took out weigh?

I've used the 680 in other cars...they make great batteries...and closed cell too for added safety.

I'll weigh it when I get a chance. I'm guessing 40lbs. Pc680 was great in my last weekend car. This ones my daily and its doing fine. I just turned off the courtesy lights for insurance

I'll order up some endless fluid when I get back from this event, in time for my next track day. I wish I planned a little earlier But since I'm running stock pads, I'm sure this will fade well before my fluid

You defiantly need super blue 600 or Motul racing fluid.Carbotech xp 20 pads fror the front and xp16’s rear.Steel brake lines are nice too.If you are a novice or intermediate driver you will probably be fine with what you have.Look to upgrade in the future if you continue to track your car more often.
Be sure to keep an eye on your tire pressures,Like as soon as you get in the pits every time

unfortunately, yes...I figured over the counter dot 4 would be fine w/ stock pads. and until I hit a bigger track, i'm positive pads will be fine, but I'll find out soon enough. BTW my last encounter with dtc70x4 left a bitter sweet taste in my mouth and I'm still on the fence about which pads to go with

carbotech may be what I go with, with this car...I thought we had ss line to begin with, but found out later that they are just more reinforced rubber lines. I'll definitely be getting the lines with my next fluid swap

ive been to the same track three times now. the first time i didn't do anything to the car but take out the side pipe restrictors. i didn't get any brake fade, but i was also turning 2:20 lap times on a track where low 2 to high 1 minute times are fast for a street car.

the second time i upgraded the brake fluid to high temp dot 4 and all was fine. i also had the headers, catted x, and new flows on the car too. dropped into the 2:15 range that time out. i attribute none of the mods and all of my driving instructor lol.

third time out they invited me to a members day, pads had more than half the life left on factory brake pads. i hauled **** and burned the brake pads to the metal backing in two 30 min sessions. hawk hp plus on order. dropped into the 2:08 range that time out.

I'm still learning the best way to do things on the track. my point is for anyone looking to go out the first time all you really need until you earn the driver mod is dot 4 fluid and some sense. people may make you think you will die if you run box stock on a track day or two, but use common sense and listen to the instructor and you can run with nothing done to the car to see if you like road racing.
