What did they say was on back order, the paperwork & voucher you buy from Ford for $302 or the software itself?
Either way, as johnny said, that's weird. It's just software and what you get from the parts dept is just a voucher & instruction pamphlets with a 91+ sticker. I don't understand how either would ever be on backorder.

Nope, the guy told me it would be ready to install tuesday morning and that $302 parts plus $120 labor would be due when they finish it Tuesday afternoon. He did say they've done a few, and they had 2 2013 bosses there. I think this dealer sells a lot of specialty cars (they also had a gt350 and a super snake on their showroom.)
Maybe 2013 isn't ready yet, but mechanically there are no changes. Perhaps there's something different with the LCD screen they need to perform for display purposes that's not ready? Or maybe your dealer sucks.
I'll let you know on Tuesday when I get the program done.

OMG! There is no such thing as "backordered" on a software install!
I had my 2013 Track Key software installed this week. No issues or delays. I was told that the new software is for BOTH the 2012 and the 2013 but that's from a service guy so take it with a grain of salt.
If you're in doubt ALWAYS ALWAYS call Ford Racing yourself. They are VERY VERY helpful and will give you the straight dope. (800) ford788 If there is some "issue" with the 2012 software they will tell you. Then go find yourself a new dealer.

I just talk to the service advisor and he was trying to order the actual red key , i just cancel the order because it looks that they don't know what they are doing and I just won't risk my 43k car to them. Thank's for all the help guys .

Well you'll find that for a lot of dealers you'll be the first one. I was at mine and it was a learning process for them. They got it right in the end though.

When I first call them the service advisor told me how much it was going to cost and how much for labor , I went to them on advice from a member of this forum. I'll post a update as soon I call another dealership .

They do not send the software on physical media. It's a file sitting on a Ford server somewhere that the installing tech downloads over an internet connection and flashes to your PCM with a laptop.
The "package" that Ford sends to the dealer only has 3 things in it:
- A printout of the dealer instructions pdf that you can find on the trackey.ford.com website.
- An authorization code that the dealer has to enter when he goes to download the software from Ford
- A white sticker the size of a stamp that says "91+" that you're supposed to put on the inside of your gas tank door.
Unless they ran out of stickers there's nothing really to be on backorder.

I just ordered the track key from grapevine ford and they told me that they should have everything by Thursday , finally after dealing with a advisor that didn't had a clue about it , what bothers me is not the lack the knowledge but the lack of good customer service.

I would write a letter to the other dealership owner and GM.
