Don't give up yet Rich...this is a 3-year program. There are a lot of days between now and the end, many Boss owners to process through the deal. If all you are covering is flight and hotel and limiting yourself to the one day it's very reasonable.
Personally I'd find a way to stretch into the two day because there will never be a less expensive route to getting a 2-day school. Our normal 2-day is $2795, upgrade to the FR500S is $500, and Limited Liability totals $250...$3545 plus tax, flight and hotel.
This will put the value into greater perspective...I had a Boxster S in 2007, a friend of mine had a 911. I did my 45k service at 48k miles after driving it on track 8 times and only needed front pads. My buddy did 3 track days on the 911 at 6500 miles and required pads and rotors...not cheap on a 911 or a Boss 302. The difference between us? He was doing open track without any schools and I had done several in the preceding years. And it wasn't just brakes, tires lasted much longer using what I learned in the schools. Simply put you WILL pay for one or the other if you track your Boss, or any other performance car. The price my buddy paid to service the 911 would have covered a 3-day school with all upgrades and more!

Brian,
There are a number of us who have more experience and would really appreciate a higher level school as part of the Boss deal. Even with the discount, compared to a two day school, my preference would be to make the most of the instructors' expertise in extracting the most out of the Boss specifically.

I haven't committed to any days at this time but was wondering if anyone was bringing their significant others alone. The MS has mentioned she would like to go.

Originally I wanted to bring my whole family. Then I realized there was nothing for them to do and they would be bored by the end of the day. Plus the dates are only on weekdays so that sealed it for me. I'm attending without my family.

For those who have never been to SLC before I suggest taking another day to see the sights, especially Park City. It's a fun place even for non skiers.

I'm signed up for 8/31 track day (dinner night before) and am taking spouse. Radisson reservations at the airport were $94+tax/day= $105.96/day. Call reservations directly.
