I hit the limiter somewhere around 158 on my gt500. Heat soak is fixed by using a larger heat exchanger also the liquid cooled kenne bell helps keep boost temps down.

 

So then what is the REAL top speed of the 302 if it's unrestricted. If no one knows....then I have a goal 8->

171 but don't expect me to find it. I've been thinking about doing the Mojave Mile but I don't think it will go past 155 in that distance.

 

Based on recent experience it takes a LONG time to reach the the 155mph limit in our stock Boss. I didn't think to look at the odometer but well over 1 mile starting at 70mph. That last 10-15mph takes for-ev-er. Its an exponential thing.

 

155 is the speed rating on the stock tires. you don't have to get a custom tune, i believe you can turn it the speed limiter off with a SCT tuner alone. as for how fast, my car on the dyno in 5th at 7200 was showing 154.8 on the dyno screen.

 

The Pirellis are a "Y" rated tire. That is a speed rating of 186.

 

they are? lol guess i should look for myself, a friend with the same tires on a track pack car told me they were 155 rated.

 

Just a Y or is it a (Y) the parentheses are a subtle but important difference.
