Took the Boss to the strip.
Took the Boss to the strip.
Went to the Woodburn dragstrip for a basic open track afternoon. Running on stock tires, Roush axle backs and rear lowering springs, discs out.
It was right around 90 degrees and the track was pretty greasy, Ive had other cars there and found it to generally have better traction...
Anyway; 60' 2.094
1/8 8.29 @ 90.34
1/4 12.59 @ 115.32
Rpm at launch was just off idle, anymore and it'd really spin, I feathered a bit to get these times.
Anyhow it was fun, I'm not a drag racer, I just wanted to see what me & the car could do.
If I could figure out how to put pics up I would. (haven't really tried too hard)

Nice times Dave!
Why would you say this? I have seen a few others say the same thing..........If the Torsen is not bullet proof then why was it 2k more?
I understand it was not made for the 1/4 mile but i also know most cars that run the road coarse have slicks or close to it.............
BTW Very nice times!

The Torsen (Torque-Sensing) was designed to shift torque from one wheel to another if traction is lacking by locking up. It wasn't built for absolute strength for hard launches but rather serves as a tool for traction under acceleration when unequal loads are applied to the rear tire, like when you're exiting a turn near the limits of the friction circle, causing one tire to go light and lose traction.
It will have no issue in a road-course environment.

I don't think anyone knows at this point but Torsen differentials, with their smaller, more delicate moving parts, have traditionally been less favorable with shock applications.
Agreed that any diff can let go at the strip.
There are a bunch of reports of them crapping out on F-Bodies a couple years back. You can find pictures of cracked casings etc if you search for them.
Anyhow--dragstrip application is not something I care about so it's irrelevant to me.

I would expect it to hold, I am not the type to drive a car easy for the sake of not breaking it. I leave it all on the track! If it can't hold, then no big deal. I will upgrade accordingly. I bought the Boss for that reason only. Pointless really, since my local track is currently closed.

They also have a 7.75" rear end iirc vs the Ford's 8.8"
