Tiger Hood Paint Schemes
Tiger Hood Paint Schemes
So sitting around waiting for the winter that has yet to start to end, and I'm thinking about the Tiger Hood to go with my 302s Grill. I am painting the grill surround Kona Blue to match the car, and have been pondering paint schemes for the hood. I like the painted vents I've seen on NorCal's Boss and the full coverage of the intake area as seen in the official 302s photos, but wanted to explore other options. I'm leaning toward the white "spear" on a black hood as a way to tie in the black spoiler and rims. Kind of riffs on the old George Follmer car paint scheme as well. Love opinions of those on the forum as well...
I was also thinking about the spear for a nod to the Bud Moore cars but will go with the design I posted in the other thread. If you paint the hood black are you going to paint the roof either black or KB?

If and when I get money for a second set of rims, they will be painted white. Was thinking of keeping roof white. That what the white stripes, roof and spear all go together, and the black rims, black spoiler and black hood work as a set as well. I also have a scheme that adds some white to the lower front Boss valence.
I do love the painted vents look, and the BOS 302s Press car look, but want something I can call my own.

I also think about white wheels but then I come to my senses when I think back on my all white 1991 SHO that had white wheels.
I have some PS's with white wheels and mirrors on KB Boss if anyone wants to see them. I am ordering a cobra jet grill with white surround this week and I'll post photos once it's installed. It's mainly for track use but if I like it I'll use it on the street too.

Original 1969 Boss 302 hoods were a matte/flat black...............

The more I think about this……….. a’la Boss 302S / 1969 Boss 302, I like it....................

Or does it just say I can't afford to get my hood painted?

Hi Fenderadict2,
In my opinion, the KB hood with white intake area would look the best and stay more true to the 2012 paint scheme of white spoiler white roof and white hood.
I too want to get a C/F tiger hood for my black LS and I would paint the intake area race red to match the roof and spoiler.
One thing for sure the only hood pins to put on these hoods has to be the Aero Catch Flush Hood Pins, they are the BOMB !
I would have then pins powder coated race red too.
Whatever choice you make I am sure it's going to look great.
