Texas Mile
Had a great experience. I could only run on Friday.
Here's how it works. You have to make a pass between 140-160 to prove you can handle the car and then try to run faster. All cars have to pass a tech inspection.
First Run: Weather 76*, slight to no headwind. 144.8 mph
In 5th gear the speedo was 153-155 @7000 rpm. Shifted to 6th and finished at 144.8, which was perfect to go next level.
The Boss ran great. I was shocked at how well it hugged the track; no moving around, just stayed on course; no shaking, lightness, etc.
Second Run: 80* with 25 mph headwind. I shifted from 5 -6 as soon as I hit 7000 rpm. 1/2 mile 138 1 mile 152.7 mph.
The car really different with that head wind.
A great experience and really exhilarating. Lot's a great cars there. Saw a few Bosses. My son-in-law's CTS V (820+ RWHP) ran 190.
Any suggestions for higher mph are welcome.
ps. as much as I enjoyed seeing how fast I could go; I really like the thrill of a 1/8 or 1/4 drag race and just beating the car I'm racing at that time....

nice runs I bet it was fun. I wonder if shorter or taller tires would make much of a difference. I also wonder if these guys have anything that would help

Boss949, do you have your Boss tuned? If not, the factory tune has a maximum speed limiter set around 155/156. Without an aftermarket tune, you are almost maxed out with your speed.

First off, I am so Jealous...the Texas Mile makes me want to move there.
Going faster...gearing, weight and power.
Believe it or not, it's very easy to loose 150lbs off these cars. Swapping to a GT style non-quad stainless exhaust is good for about 70lbs alone. Throw in a light weight battery some reduced weight goodies from Steeda, wheels and your in business...maybe a flywheel to help the engine rev faster would be a good idea too.
Power, sounds like your on the right track...get headers yet? There is some top end power for ya.
Gears, like other posters said. Taller tires does work as that is a gearing factor for sure. But I am not sure what that's going to do to car stability at high speed.

On the second run (152.7) the headwind was affecting the ride; not much, and didn't feel the front end "coming up"; just a "fighting" through the wind; if that makes sense.
I have some mods to suspension, which, I'm sure did help to stabilize.
