I was finally able to swap out the mufflers to see if there was any sound improvement. Oh yes, there was!
It's a much deeper sound (I'd say a couple of octaves) and a bit louder as well ( a decibel or two). It's thunderous when the throttle gets mashed.
Sorry I didn't post a video. I'll try and get to it when I can.

...so, I'm totally ignorant, but what SVT mufflers? One-off proto's or is there a link? I assume the aft mufflers are compromised to remain under legal sound dB limits. I was thinking of replacing them with Borla ATAKs.

I put the stock 2011 GT500 mufflers on my 2011 5.0 and will probably do the same on the Boss. Cut the resonators out as well. Sounds perfect with no drone and under throttle sounds like the late 60's mustangs. Interesting to see what the GT500 mufflers sounds like with the side pipes open...By the way...they say they will fit and they will but you had better have an experienced pipe/muffler shop put them on because they will not fit without an inch added...do not stick out enough from the GT valence.

I used the 2011 Mustang GT - SVT Muffler Kit (50 State), p/n M-5230-MGTCA1.
The SVTs seem a little lighter than the stock muffs - maybe not as much internal materials. They are physically the same size.
With the side pipes open the sound is perfect.
Sent by Perry's homing pigeon because I'm in Omaha this week.

The link I posted agrees with that part number. If you look on CJ Pony parts though they have a GT500 Touring (which is what the one I posted from American Muscle corresponds to and also the one that I am looking at getting) and a GT500 Sport which has a different part number.

That's a great deal. I paid $425 for FRPPs (same as Borla) for my '07 GT500.
