I don't hate the alternate-color roof, but I guess I don't really "get" it. What is it supposed to evoke exactly? Perhaps give the illusion of a very wide stripe that terminates on the hood? If they wanted to offer this, I think the trunk lid should've be painted to match the roof.
some of the 69/70 RACE cars had different colored roofs, but they also had big round circles with numbers on the doors...the street bosses had what at the time woulda been pretty bold graphics, in black/white/silver reflective tapes, but they didnt stick out like a sore thumb...my gut feeling was the tu-tone roof was not going to go over well, so far it looks to be the case.
hopefully Ford's got a ear to the ground on this and offer some more traditional options...theres a new grabber blue in here with 70 hockeystick boss graphics, looks very classy...that stripe on a black or dark gray car would be a sweet almost sleeper package...or on yellow/white/orange for those that want to shout it out a little, but would still look cool. personally I feel the 69 c stripe was a bad choice due to being backwards of the sidecrease hockeystick, yet still butting into it- the 70 style would just flow under it- still think they shoulda stamped different quarters without the rear hockeystick AND put the 70 graphics- that would be a sweet sweet looking car, and unmistakably a Mustang Boss302...
gotta add a tiny jab-
still wish theyd offer some optional rear treatments- maybe a smaller splitter...at least they added the decklid blackout...heck they used to change front and rear fascias EVERY model year, yet with the less than warm reception of the 10 rear they still havent offered anything alternative going into its third model year.
I really think if EVEN JUST DEALER INSTALLED option list were expanded to include things like taillights/fascia alternatives, 69 OR 70 boss stripes, etc, that Ford could make a killing- they make more in options than on most base cars, customers like choices, its a win-win... with a few minor tweaks here and back there these could be both the best AND best looking mustangs of all time. it couldnt cost that much- look how many chrome ricer taillights are in the parts catalogs...
heres a pic of more what I was hoping to see-

I'd also like to see White/white/blue, which wasn't mentioned.
I'd like more choices with the LS model. Especially removing the orange wheels and orange roof.
After seeing the above image, I'd like to add blue/blue/black.
