Stone chip in hood decal

I'm a bit bummed. A stone flew up and skipped over the hood, tearing a 1/8 inch hole in the decal. Now it has orange paint showing through. Besides replacing the whole decal, I really don't know what to do. Is there some way to repair a decal. I have the ESP Dentcare warranty but they said they don't repair decals.

I do not see how it could be fixed without still seeing the repair unless you replace the whole stripe. I have no idea of what a dentcare service plan covers but you should ask the Ford Customer Service Rep on the site for help before you do anything. She may be able to figure someway to help you.

im betting as close as you can get to repair without replacing the whole thing is black touch up paint or some sort of decal patch. Go to a local sign shop and see what they can do. I'm irritated that as much as i take care of my car and the care I take with the paint my hood decal has swirl marks all in it.

I know that it's not much help,But better the decal than the paint. The replacement decal is far cheaper to replace than Paint.

I'd start by just dabbing a permanent marker in the whole. You're going to get more, so no need to react too dramatically.

Yep, that's what my body shop taught me to do.
The wonders of a black sharpie.

It won't stand up to close scrutiny, but a casual glance won't reveal the chip.

i stopped by the dealer tonight. Upon a closer look, there is a small dent. They think the dent docter will be able to pop out (actually suck out) the small dent. Then they quoted me a total price (part and labor)of $150 for a new decal. This seemed quite reasonable. I want to see what it looks like after the dent work to see if I want to go with a whole new decal. I'm always perplexed when it comes to fixing dents & dings on a car. Do you fix everyone or just shrug it off? BTW the dealer did state they are getting another Boss in soon but they didn't know the color. I think they are miffed at me for getting mine below sticker. They didn't realize how rare these puppies are.

I already have a dent on the front edge of the hood. Can't be fixed without total repaint. Hey, it's a Ford, not a Ferrari. Enjoy it.

I do vinyl graphics and I would never try to repair the tear. Without seeing it the only way to repait it would be to cut out a piece and replace it with a new piece. One of the problems is that vinyl has a tendency to shrink so you might end up with orange showing around the edges. If they are willing to replace it for $150.00 it is a no brainer, in my opinion.

Just paint it black. A little more expensive but I'm sure it'll look much better.
