Steeda Boss Mustang 302 Power Pack

Want more power for your Boss 302 Mustang? Steeda has what you need.

Much like the 5.0L GT, the Boss Mustang also benefits from improved airflow and computer calibration changes.

Combined with Steeda’s cold air intake and custom tuned SCT device on 93 octane we achieved a peak increase of 27 horsepower and point to point increases of as much as 29 horsepower. Peak torque increased 22 ft/lbs with max point to point increases of 24 ft/lbs.

Throttle response and driveability greatly improve as well for a very fun to drive package.

This is the same package we use on the 5.0L GT Mustangs shown here: http://www.steeda.com/store/steeda-p...d-mustang.html but calibrated specifically for the Boss Mustang.

Here is a dyno sheet of the gains:

Forum members get reduced pricing over the pricing shown on the website. Please PM me for forum member pricing if interested. We will need your 4 digit processor code off your vehicle to calibrate the SCT tuning device. If you have questions on how to find this code we will gladly assist you with that.

I can only assume since you didn't address it in text or video that the idle is unchanged from stock...no lumpy cam sound?

I went to Track Attack this week and the Boss cars have TracKey installed. The lopey idle not only sounds cool it shakes the car.

Lumpy is what they call it in the UK.

lol For a country that prides itself in language that's pretty dull-witted.

2. A small cube of sugar.
3. Pathology A swelling or small palpable mass.
4. A collection or totality; an aggregate.
5. A person regarded as ungainly or dull-witted.
lope (lp)

Sorry Gus - didn't think it would go this way.

Great HP bump!

I think people should wait for the Red Key before they think about modding their Boss'. The Red Key should give great throttle response to the car.
With Ford being extra vigilant with warranty work on modified cars I think it would be a mistake to add the tune.
Being no stranger to modified cars I think the Boss should stay stock- except for tires and brakes.

I'm starting to think the red key will never be available.

Two questions: is the price for a Boss the same as for a GT? How does this affect (does it) the warranty?

My car has great throttle response stock. Trackey did improve it but nothing earth shattering. The increased engine braking is much more noticeable.

That's impressive, because I think the stock tune does a decent enough job of engine braking as it is (at least for the street).

But I thought none of us here had Trackey programmed on our cars yet?

The Boss cars for Track Attack have the program and I was there this week. Subject to change by the time it gets released to us.

For the time being, I'm erring on the side of caution here as well. What I think would ultimately be cool is for the TracKey tune to be released, and some of the more reputable tuners find a way to access and modify it *safely* from there.
All that said, this Steeda package is attractive to those that aren't interested in waiting for TracKey.

I hope FRPP is paying attn. At a cost of $302 for the programming, plus possible installation costs, it's not like we're being held over a barrel, forced to wait for the tune before we can have additional fun in our cars. Our incentive to wait for the release of the TK tuning diminishes each time an aftermarket tuner releases a package like this.

One thing to keep in mind is the HP numbers of the Steeda tune are based on 93 octane. Many people do not have access to 93. I'd prefer to see numbers based on 91, then you could make a much better choice regarding the tune's value vs. headaches from Ford.

91 octane numbers will be nearly identical since most of the gains are from airflow changes and camshaft timing, not ignition timing.
