Silly question

Excuse the rookie nature of the question but I was just curious of how much gas was in the tank just before u stored it for the winter. Any good rule of thumbs out there on that situation?

This.

And as far as the Stabil goes, I automatically add the full dose described in the directions (vice the 'fuel system treatment' dose).

Yes, add stablizer at gas pump before filling up, so it will mix properly.
No need to fill to last drop as you don't want fuel to expand and run over the garage floor when it warms up and expands.
For me, it's important NOT to use any Ethanol based fuel putting a vehilce into storage, especially older vehicles and motorcycles and anything with small engines.
You might consider disconnecting the battery, and charging the battery a couple times during storage.
If your storage isn't heated, the remove that battery and put it in a warm place. Do NOT set battery on a cement floor, put a piece of wood or styrofoam under it.
I like a good quality dust cover on my vehicles and bikes whe I store them. (BTW, I'm underwhelmed at the quality of the factory Boss 302 cover, especially for the price).
I presume you'll change the oil before putting it in storage too? That eliminates internal engine corrosion from aicds and sludge that builds up in oil.
Geez, I'm rambling here. All you asked was how do you handle gas in the tank for storage.
Hopefully you're on track now,...
Cheers,

Full tank so that there is the least amount of moisture to condense.

Full tank of gas with Stabil and a battery tender. Cover it up and wait. I've done it for years and no issues......except this year because we still don't have snow and highs are in the 40s and 50s again this week so I'm driving it It's normally in the teens about now and a foot or more of snow.

I have the battery tender and stabil, and also highly recommend both. However, I drove to Ellsworth AFB today and changed the oil at the Auto Hobby Shop...it was 61. We were working with the bay doors open, in short sleeve shirts. So, no storage issues, just driving. Gotta love Global Warming.
