side pipe sound
I want to experiment some. will the trackey work if you use the solid (no holes) restricter plates.
I want to here the full sound of the GT500 mufflers without the side pipe sound.
do the side pipes have to be open for the trackey to work properly?

The short answer is NO.
If you go to the CoolTechLLC.com website it talks about the different Kooks exhaust systems available and it mentions that the stock side exhaust is more for sound than any performance gains. They even have several configurations that delete the side exhaust.

It is personal preference.
With the plates removed, there is much more 'Jake Brake' noise when letting off the gas & was quite a bit louder than stock.
Stock hole size is 5/8". You can drill out the holes in 1/8" increments until you find what you prefer.
3/4" & 7/8" are the most common besides completely removed.
Mine are 3/4" with GT-500 axle backs & just perfect for my tastes.
