Recaro Seats - height adjustable?
Recaro Seats - height adjustable?
The LA Auto Show exhibit displayed an uninstalled Boss Recaro seat. There is a lever on the side which likely sets the recline, and there is a second lever on the rear of the seat which presumably collapses the seat and slides it forward so that passengers in the rear can enter and exit. Does anybody know whether the seat will move up or down? I'm only 5'6" and typically need to raise a car seat a bit to get the best driving position. Thanks for any advice (other than sitting on a phone book).
good question. I'm just barely taller than you... didn't think that the recarros could not be as adjustable as normal seats.
If they are, it would be the first one's that I've ever seen (but not saying that they don't exist). Due to their high backs (to provide support for a race helmet) they come pretty close to the roof already. Most shorter people (like me) find that they sit a bit too low so that taller drivers CAN use them.
They will undoubtedly adjust front to rear however. If they sit on the standard Mustang power seats though, they should be able to move up and down at least a bit. But if it's the manual seats, probably not.

The standard driver's seat is height adjustable. I am trying to find a video/photo of the seat in the LS model for 100% confirmation.
Thanks very much! I would think that it would be a major oversight not to have adjustable height on the driver's side. In all of the pictures I've seen of the Boss Recaros - inside our outside of the car - only the levers on the passenger side are visible. I'll take the chance and order the Recaros.
If they are the same seats as in the newer GT500s, maybe you can ask in that forum for someone of similar stature and see how they like the seats. One note, I'm not sure between the Boss and GT500, which has the higher hoodline as far as sight goes.
Or maybe sneak down to your local GT500 dealer and check them out for yourself?

Hey. I am a frequent lurker but I figured I would post to actually contribute something.
I saw all three of the oft-photographed Bosses on Friday at the LA auto show.
I sat in the LS signed by PJ, and the Recaro seats were fully height-adjustable, enough that I imagine most people would be happy with the range of adjustment. Same goes for the regular seats in the Kona Blue/White I sat in.
Just a note for all those wondering whether or not the Recaros are the way to go...they are surprisingly amazingly comfortable, at least for my body shape (5' 10", relatively thin framed). There is nothing wrong with the regular seats either, but if I were going to order, I would get the Recaros...
Sadly, I was a bit disappointed in many other elements when I got to see them all in person. I am first on my dealer's list for a Boss at MSRP when order banks open and was all ready to pull the trigger, but now I am having second thoughts. In person, I HATE the super-cheap hard plastic matte-finish injection-molded grille and fake fog lights. I didn't like it to begin with, but it is all one piece; they aren't inserts so one could not easily just put fog lights in there to make it less awful. The front splitter and lower grille and rear splitter continue the trend of cheap. It is just too much. I was fine with it in pictures, but not so much in person. Also, the spoiler needs to be a pedistal spoiler. The little black duck-tail just doesn't look right...
That's my report. Maybe some of it belongs in another thread but...sorry!
