Rear End Noise?

I had to take some items into work today with the rear seats down. It seemed like there was alot of buzzing from the rear that isn't noticeable with the seats up.

Is this the Torsen rear end? Anyone else notice this? It seemed, from what I've read, to be a quasi-gear drive setup.

I'm just wondering if I'm hearing normal sounds or if I should be concerned.

Hey dean_acheson,

I recommend you bring this up to your Ford dealer for diagnosis as soon as possible. Then, PM me with your dealer, mileage, and contact info (I have your VIN already) so I can escalate this for you.

Dean it's a combination of gear whine, axle noise, a floating rear caliper, reduced sound deadening material and stiffer performance bushings. i.e., it's normal. Keep you seats up and use your Raptor to haul things

Dey, I am going to go with Cloud 9 on this, I thought that I remember reading that there was a bit of rear end noise with this car. I'm going to check it occassionally but I don't think that it's a problem, unless it gets louder in the next few months (I don't put may miles on the car each day).

Gary, I had to haul some court exhibits around.... normally the seats wouldn't ever be down.... I thought about sangging the Raptor, but it's hard NOT to drive the B2.

Hahahaha! I was just ribbing you Dean. Oh I know how hard it is NOT to drive the Boss. Did you realize you can get two 18 x 10.5 wheels with 305/35/18 tires and two 18 x 9.5 wheels with 285/35/18 tires in your Boss? That's how bad I wanted to drive the Boss over the pickup last time I needed to put new rubber on the track tires

I'm ok until I start hauling the 2 x 4s and such from the Home Depot back with a flag and the trunk open!

Expect a fair bit more noise (and new noises) with the rear seats down / trunk exposed to interior. The Laguna has the rear seat close-out panels for this reason... too loud w/o the seats and just the cross brace. If you think it is an abnormal sound, you can take to the dealer to have it checked out.
