quick help: trans fluid for boss and gear oil
Good question Adam, I too wonder why "stuff people are changing to" is not the OE recommended Motorcraft fluids?
Anyone got data (not opinions please) which is convincing enough to support a switch to some other fluid manufacturer or viscosity for the rear axle and/or transmission lubrication?

Not everyone follows their owner's manual like a bible. To me, changing fluids to non-OEM brands is personal choice.
For starters, I don't use 5w20 because I want a thicker 5w30 or 10w30 full synthetic oil. I'm going with either Redline MTL or RP 75w90 gear oil based on all the reviews I've read. No one has had one bad thing to say. When it comes to cold starts, let your car idle for a few minutes then drive it. Shouldn't have any issues. For the rear end, Ford says use 75w140. Ok, I agree but I'm going with RP instead of OEM based on more reviews I've read.
tracked the heck out of the car Saturday. the clutch pedal stuck once late in the second sessions and i was hauling **** at that point. fried the factory pads to the metal backing and burned half a tank of fuel in 30 minutes mixing it up with a modded evo and a porsche GT3. im glad to say the three of us ran neck and neck the whole time with us all right in same times.
anyway, the transmission did very well even on high rpm shifts after the fluid swap until that second session when it got hot. again going form redline 7500-8k shifts to 6500-7k fixed the shifting issue.

ive asked a couple people and shops what it would cost install, but no one has been able to tell me. i don't want to buy a $100 part and find out the install is $300 or something. i am also not that hopeful it will work. i emailed the company selling it with questions and they didn't even bother to answer.
From another member:
Now I have always run Redline gear oil and transmission fluid in my racecars, and am doing so on the Boss. Lightweight Shockproof for the Torsen, which was recommended by both Redline and Torsen, and MTL for my transmission, which has had ZERO issues since changing, and shifts unbelievably smooth. Highly recommended.
