Question about ordering a 2013 Boss

I went to the NY International Car SHow today and saw 2 Boss Mustangs. Took a few photos. Look really nice. Of course I left there wanting one. But I have a question. Last time I went to my Ford dealer (over a year ago) about buying a Boss, he told me of a $6000 mark up they had. I was wondering, you lucky guys who have ordered a 2013 Boss, did you have to pay any dealer markup? I can get X Plan pricing from work. Can you order a Boss using X Plan? Thanks for any input.

No x-plan on Boss's. If you shop around you will find someone with no mark-up. You may have to travel a little but it will be worth it.

Call Hank Basile at Sunrise Ford in Ft. Pierce FL. He has two 2013 Boss 302s for MSRP. You will have to ship back up north but I guarantee Hank will treat you well.

I am working with Ed at Capital Ford in Raleigh, NC. He had over 10 boss allocations last year and I am pretty sure he has some left. One Q2 allocation backed out a few weeks ago but I am not sure if he filled the spot again or not. He sells the regular bosses at MSRP, so if you don't mind the drive or having it shipped send me a PM, and I will forward his info. So far the experience has been great, he is very knowledgable about the whole ordering process and is a good sport about providing updates.

They are not ordered yet so you can pick the color and options. They had four and two have been sold to forum members, a Boss SBY and a LS I think in SBY also. Hank and this dealer in general are great to work with, no BS and they don't make things up on the spot to please you, like "yes, sure we can get a Boss in leather". If they don't know they find out before putting their foot in their mouth.

Hey Joe, how have you been? I was up at the show too, last Friday the 6th. The GHIG was AWESOME!!! Like the others said, if you call around, you'll find a store that will sell one for MSRP. If I had more than only 1 car for this model year, I'd offer it to you for MSRP, but alas, Ford only gave me 1 car!! If you have any questions, you can give me a call and I can help. Been a while since we last spoke.

Jeff, always good to talk to you. I do have a question. A long time ago when I was looking for my GT I found some web site where I could search for cars on dealer's lots anywhere in the country. If one was looking for a 2013 Boss on some dealer lot, is there a web site for this? I can't seem to recall what site it was. I know it was not a Ford site. Thanks!

Joe C

P.S. On another forum I have heard of 2 poeple getting 2013 Bosses for under MSRP. There is yet hope!

Did a search on the net for Bosses with 500 miles of here, it turned up 9. However, 3 or 4 were already sold. One of them was in NYC who sold their 2013 but had a blue 2012 with a $5k markup. No thank you.

I did find a local dealer who has one allocation left and I am going to see them Monday to see what kind of trade-in they would give me on my 2010 GT. The dealer in NYC made it sound like they really wanted my 2010 in trade. I guess there is a big demand in the city. I would prefer to buy local as I need to trade in my GT.

Well, I am super bum'ed out. I can't believe this dealer I went to! He says he is the biggest Mustang dealer in Orange County. But not only did he insist on a $5k markup over MSRP on a 2013 Boss but he was only willing to give me $19k in trade on my GT. Both Edmunds and KBB listed trade-in value of $22-23k. So I told him thank you and left. So my quest contiues...

Joe, I am also an X-plan purchaser and I just ordered a 2013 LS for X-plan. For a typical Ford vehicle the X-plan purchase is quick and relatively painless. When using X-plan to purchase a more exclusive product (Shelby, Boss, etc) it will take more work on your part. Most dealers will tell you they can’t sell a Shelby/Boss at X-plan but they can, they are just choosing not to. I have also purchased a Shelby at X-plan when several dealerships wanted a 5-20k markup and told me X-plan was not available. If you do your homework and legwork you should be able to find a Boss for X-plan. Good luck...

Todd,
Would you be able to share which dealership allowed your x-plan purchase? that is one heck of a deal.

Hey bud, they are just selling you the car at the X-Plan price. They can't use the PIN number and lock it in as it won't work. I know this as I just ran a VINCENT program on a 302 LS at a dealer near me. There is no dealer pay at the bottom where there usually is for any other X-Plan sale. Plus, the Boss 302s are on the excluded list for 2013 model year! You got a heck of a deal on the car if they are selling it at the X-Plan price. Very well done.

Morgan, the dealership I purchased the Shelby from at X-plan was Lindsey Ford in Maryland. I simply used Ford's check dealer inventory tool to find vehicles I was interested in. Then I call and ask for a sales manager. I explain that I am a X-plan purchaser and I'm interested in XXX vehicle at X-plan price. Usually I get sarcastic laughter or rude replies. Things like, "we get 10-20k over MSRP for that vehicle." With enough persistance you can find a dealership that needs to make a sale. The end of the month and/or when they have had a vehicle for nearly or over a month are good times to find a great deal.

Jeff, that is interesting, my salesman pulled up the vehicle on his computer and scrolled down to the pricing and the X-plan price was clearly displayed, $47,XXX.

That's correct. But just because the X-Plan price is listed on the invoice, it doesn't mean its eliglble. A/Z and D-Plan are also shown on the invoice, but they are not eligible for buying a Boss at those plans either. The true thing is if the VINCENT program sheet shows an X-Plan commission to the dealer. On normal cars (Focus, Fusion, etc) it shows, but not on a Boss 302.
