For those of you that have installed an oil temp sensor, what kind of temps are you seeing? I installed a sender for my Aeroforce gauge and am just trying to make sure it's calibrated. I've only driven it on the street so far and it's been around 180 or so when ECT is around 192. I plan to start watching it a little closer to see how it behaves, but am curious what others are seeing.

 

I didn't hook a oil temp sensor up, but too am running dual Aeroforce setup. I have one of the gauges set to read coolent and head temperatures.

The coolent temperature is always around 20 degrees lower than the head temp. Once it gets nice and warmed up, the heads are around 220 degrees and the coolent around 200. That's when it really starts to run nice.

Your oil running at around 180 (slightly cooler) sounds about right.

Someone here a while back said that it's good go get the oil up to around 212 once in a while in order to burn off condensation/moisture. I'm sure you'll have that handled on your next track run.

As an aside, it's funny you should bring the topic of oil up. I had just gotten in from the garage checking the Boss's oil.

2,000 somewhat hard miles since my first change at 1,000 - yet it's burned almost nothing and the oil is still HONEY COLORED.

I thought the same thing, and after changing the oil when it looked Honey color it was very dark. Dont be fooled by the dip stick. thats just a thin coat of oil on it and will apear cleaner than it is.

 

After a little spirited driving it was 198 and ECT was 197. The only weird thing is it started out below ambient when I started it cold yesterday. I'll have to look tomorrow to see how far below.
