If you have not tracked the car or drove the wheels off it, you can wait another 1000 to 1500 miles. Just make sure you check the oil level. When New, these Bosses use oil untill broken in. It will stop at around 3000 miles give or take. One TMS member reported his car going into limp mode and when he took it to the dealer he was something like 6 quarts of oil low. I know my car was 1 1/2 quarts low at 1000 miles. That woke me up.

Just don't wait too long to do the first oil change and get rid of those micro particles. They don't call it 'break-in' for nothing!
Cheers,

Hello Takiotoshi,

I’m sure you know this already… Your Mustang's message center will alert you when an oil change is required based on your driving habits. It can be up to a year or up to 10,000 miles. You can click the SETUP button to see how much oil life you have remaining. This information can be viewed in your Owner's Manual on page 319 using this link: (https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...OwnerGuidePage) and select your make & year then select OWNER GUIDE 3RD PRINTING. There is no such thing as too many oil changes, however I know many people do the first one a little early due to “break in”. It’s really up to you, as to “when” to get it done. Have an awesome day!

I'm at 1,000 miles and my cars in storage, I'll either change it immediately after storage or when I reach 2000 milesb, after that I change it every 3000 miles.

Did my first change around 1000 miles. Will do every 3000 after that. Not going 10,000 between oil changes. My preference.

I did my first oil change at 1500 miles and my second at 5500 miles... I'll probably do the computer recommended intervals from here on out though.

Well since I drive my company's truck I don't drive the 302 but on weekends and living in Texas you can even drive it during winter except for whenever we got weird weather which it does not happen too often .

My oil at 1500 was pretty rancid and dark. Not what I expected. I'm at 2500 now and I'll do it after my third track day or 5000 mi. And I'll get an oil analysis after 10k mi to see when I should change oil. But until then it's every third track event or 5k mi

Changing synthetic oil every 3K miles on a street driven (no track events) car is a complete waste of money and natural resources.

Changing oil every 3k miles using petroleum oil on a modern vehicle, street driven is a complete waste of money and natural resources too.

You know they actually make a cooking device that cooks food faster than the conventional oven. Its called a microwave. They even have small electronic devices that play music called i-pods. Of course they had walkmans in the 80's. It's called evolution.
