Oil capacity...

So, first oil change today, and hmmm...

Just out of curiosity, how much oil did yours take before showing up maxed on the dipstick? I know how much mine took, and it wasn't 8.5 quarts.

8 quarts put mine at the mid level on the stick. So we added another 1/2. The tech filled the new filter with oil before screwing it on; smart move I might add.

Yep I always Pre-oil the filter, myself. I used the K&N, which is quite a bit longer than the standard FoMoCo filter. I expected to use closer to 9 quarts, but 8 dead even took me to max fill.

Hmm, OK. Guess I will 4-wheel jack it up the next time. Been a while since I had a car I had to do that with, but there must have been a little left due to the front only jacking.

Thanks for the sanity check, boys :-)
