Noises, rattles, etc.

Anybody else hearing occasional rattles from the dash area? I hear them occasionally when I corner hard to the left. I also have a whistling sound that a buddy thinks is a pulley. I'll have them checked out during my next visit to the dealership, but I am wondering I anybody else is hearing noises that shouldn't be there.

Could this be normal for a muscle car that has 11 lbs less sound deadening material, are my ears too sensitive, or am I expecting too much from a "race car with a license plate?"

Would rattles be acceptable in a $20K Fiesta? No, go get it looked at.

Hi Alex,

I agree with them! Please bring it in to your Ford dealer to get it diagnosed. Remember, if you need further assistance, do not hesitate to message me.

I have a rattle. Sounds like it is behind the glovebox.

I agree - get it checked out. One reason I'm getting a new car is that I've grown tired of the squeaks and rattles in my 1 of 5002 20th Anniversary Cougar (it's 24+ years old.)

I located a loose wire behind the driver's side dash. I secured it to other wires and the rattle seems to have gone away. My dealer is great but about 1 hour away and it's difficult for me to get there.

Incidentally, I'm taking the Boss in on Tuesday to have the pulley squeal addressed and to have the hood stripe replaced. The stripe marred during transit and the dealership identified the problem during PDI. I am really hoping their body shop can put the new stripe on straight; I understand it can be very challenging.

Picked my car up yesterday finally, and sure enough I have a rattle. Sounds like it is behind the glovebox too.

Well, got a call from dealer today, they think they located source of rattles. Loose fender and other sundry passenger side fittings. I can assume the robot was tired when he/she got to my car. ****, how they overwork the poor non-union machines. I mean it couldn't be a proud UAW workers oversight now, could it?

I located my boss's rattle this past weekend. I took the door apart and popped off the triangular mirror housing. There is a small, white band-aid looking piece of insulation that was loose. I taped it in place with 3m double sided tape and that fixed the problem. Not for nothing, the door plastic lining is annoyingly cheap.

Picked up car today. The dealer had to tighten passenger side shock and fender mounts. I get it's a low volume car and an early one at that but after paying Canadian pricing which amounts to a 10K upcharge plus a car rental for three days I'm a bit down on Ford even as I continue to love the car.

The only noise/rattle I have is from me remounting the left side exhaust after taking the disks out. Put the side pipe too close to the floor pan. There is a lot of play in the bolt holes for the side pipes allowing for max adjustment.

The adjustment band is tacked on the pipe for some reason, that leaves the bolt head in a bad place, you need at least 3/8 inch clearance between the bolt head and the floor. I found if not adjusted correctly it would rattle against the floor under hard acceleration and hard left turns. If you can't get the clearance from normal adjustment loosen the bolt on the band and you can twist the pipe around some to gain more clearance without having the whole assembly hanging too low.
