noise from driver's side rear

Hello guys,

As the title says, I have a noise coming from the driver's side rear on my car when I go over multiple bumps at normal speeds (i.e. 10-50mph). It is not just a single noise - it is sort of a muffled real fast "boing boing boing" and then it's over. As another poster on another forum has stated (w/no definitive answer), it sounds like a diving board after someone has jumped off.

I've crawled up underneath and looked at the exhaust, the swaybar, the shocks, the calipers, etc, and I can't find anything that seems loose. And the car seems to drive just fine with no looseness.

I've also taken some passengers for rides and everyone says it seems sort of high up in the back, like maybe top of shock tower or even maybe the gas filler neck?

I would appreciate any assistance you guys can give me! Oh, the car is 100% stock.

Make sure you have enough clearance from the side exhaust to the floor. If the side exhaust is to high it will rub against the floor. You can adjust the angle of the pipes by loosing the 2 flange bolts (15mm?) located by the H-pipe. You want around 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the floor to the top of the pipe.

Hey thank you, Boss Man. I'll double check the exhaust - I didn't see any clearance or rubbing issues when I looked the other day but hopefully that will fix it.

If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know so that I can check while I'm underneath the car again!

I think you were right, Boss Man! Adjusted the driver's side pipe, drove it over a bunch of bumps, and no more clunking! Thank goodness it was so simple.

Thank you again!

i have a noise too but is sounds like a golf ball rolling @ low speeds when i gas it and then brake. I first i thought it was the back seat seat belt but it was not. I have to check the trunk because it might just be a golf ball.

Is golf ball as painful as tennis elbow?
