New car Oil suggestions

I should be getting my new car in the next few weeks. What are your opinions about having the oil changed to synthetic or synthetic blend before I drive it home? Should i just wait for the first oil change. Its hot here in Florida!

The car comes with Full synthetic from the factory, or it least it should, as 5W50 full synthetic is the specified oil. You could keep an eye open for deals or sales, since 5W50 isn't very common.

Break it in with the 5W-50 that's in it and change it after 1000 miles or your first track event, whichever comes first. It's designed to run on 5W-50 full synthetic. FWIW the MMP track car I was driving had 368 miles on it. So much for breaking in these motors easy!!!! Drive it like you stole it.

I like that 'drive it like i stole it' ! So there truly is no break in period? I grew up old school with Harley's and i took the break-in seriously....

Here's the verbiage from the owner's supplement on break-in:

BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE
Your vehicle requires a break-in period. Drive your new vehicle at least
100 miles (160 km) before performing extended wide open throttle
maneuvers and at least 1,000 miles (1,600 km) before performance/
competition conditions. Vary your speed frequently in order to give the
moving parts a chance to break in.

Here's a link to a commonly used method: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I broke mine in according to the article I linked, and with what is outlined in the supplement. The instructions in the owner's supplement don't tell you to baby it.

My point is that I have seen Ford put these cars directly into track conditions both at MMP and elsewhere, meaning you can be aggressive with them during break-in. That said, due to the heat incurred under track conditions, I'm also taking their oil change and differential fluid change recommendations seriously.

Ford recommends that you change your axle lubricant and
friction modifier after the initial (first) hour of high-speed
operation or if the vehicle is subjected to track or competition
conditions; thereafter changing the axle lubricant and friction
modifier every 12 hours (under these conditions).

Ford recommends you change your oil and filter after your

vehicle is subjected to track and/or competition conditions.

I bounced mine off the rev limiter pulling off the lot so it was broken in immediately. The cars are broken in at the factory and other than not using the cruise control and keeping the car at a constant RPM for the first 1,000 miles I wouldn't worry about it.

It's easy to hit the rev limiter in first gear in the Boss.
You gotta be quick getting out of first gear when you put the throttle down hard.
I'm grabbing the shifter anytime after 5000 rpm, ... 'cause it'll be well past there by the time I get to pull down!
Cheers,
Jouster

No biggie but you really should not bang the rev limiter on a cold engine. It takes a few miles to warm up 8 qts of oil as well the as transmission and diff fluids.

FL820 fits. It has more filter media and cleans better.

I know. But if you want the extra filter media then go with the 820. It will just be able to hold more debris.
