My order was cancelled...
A short story:
I have been waiting for Ford to make a new Boss 302 for many years, when they finally announced it last August I was at my local dealer the very same week, I had a deposit down as soon as they would let me. I get called in to the dealer when they can put orders in in December with the good news they can order the Laguna Seca! Being that this is was a special edition of my favorite car based on my favorite track, I felt this car was made for me. Settled on a price, put in the order.
Three weeks ago they got in their first Boss 302 (Yellow Blaze) and so I went to look at it, the first I got to see in real life. At that time my salesman informs me they were getting 1 Laguna Seca and 3 standard Boss 302s. Lack of concrete information up to this point made me nervous, but a message to Deysha with my order number and she confirmed the order was in the system (Unscheduled - Material Hold).
The problem:
Last week I get a call from the sales manager with bad news, "Ford cancelled the order". What? I wasn't getting much of a response through phone/email, so today I dropped in and talked to him. The claim is that the order was canceled and that now they were getting zero Laguna Secas (and two more standard Boss 302s, after the YB one). But hey I get my deposit back... yay.
Does anyone have any insight as to what might be going on here? How is this even remotely possible? They were told they were getting one and now they're not? I lost my place in line at another dealer because I was buying from here! How could it have taken until April for someone to know there was a problem? If it's a case of the dealer thinking they have an allocation when they do not then I blame the dealer for being incompetent and also Ford for making this so apparently confusing that a large dealer could make this mistake.
I've been patient, I've worked hard, and I've made sacrifices to get to this point where I could finally buy the car I've been waiting for. I've never bought a new car before, but I was in there early and thought I was doing things right and was being rewarded for my efforts. Now seeing everyone getting theirs, enjoying them, and just generally being part of the resurrection of the Boss 302, finding out I'm not getting one I suddenly feel really left out.
If you don't have a VIN, build date, or quarter, I would start to worry. Right now I just want answers so I can figure out what my next step is.

FYI, I in no way mean for this to reflect badly on Deysha, who has been great in answering my questions and is currently helping me figure out what's going on.

That really sucks, I feel your pain. The only thing I can think of is the never had an allocation for a LS and were confused or their rep was confused. If you really want a car I'd start calling and emailing every dealer within 500 miles of where you live. Don't wait for your dealer to get this resolved. Good luck!
BTW I've been waiting to start hearing horror stories like this due to the way Ford allocated the cars. I posted this elsewhere and I've had orders at four different dealers. I'm confident my current order is solid but I'll sleep better when my new Boss 302 is parked in my garage.

Also check cars.com. They have some listed at MSRP, must be verified though

Did you get a DORA? As has been stated dealers can place orders but that does not mean they will be filled. Ford told the dealers the cars they will get, as of last week that has not changed - ie - cutting the number of Bosses build this year. So it sounds like they never had one coming in the first place, just my 2 cents.

Sorry this has happened to you. Fords ordering system is Broken. The lack of info provided to or by dealers sux. This has been my first experience buying a new car from ford and it has been very frustrating. Like you I found out about the car in August. Put a deposit in December. Tons of complaining and a call to FCS got me a call back from a zone rep saying I have a 2Q car due to be built in April. Which is half over and still no Info.

I agree it's broken, and I hope they learn something from all the confusion. Sounded like you and I were in the same position for a while, glad to hear you have more solid information now.

I feel better about it but I'm still not 100% yet. I will be better when I get a vin and a build date. My car was supposed to be built in April. Vin comes up a few weeks before being built and we are half way through April.

My Boss is on order from Sam Pack's 5 Star Ford in Carrollton - Placed order January 3. Got a PM response from Deysha that I am in the queue, and am promised similar delivery as Jza1736 - A separate inquiry from FCS yielded build end April with delivery early May.

Here's another one for you.
If you guys would like to spruce up this thread, you can talk to me. I took andy's original order and it's actually up for grabs again... Orange with car cover and the recaro package. Ask Andy about how he was treated at Koons Baltimore. It's a second quarter build email me tpsnyder88@me.com
