MUST have Mods
#21
Oh, don't get me wrong i'm all about losing some of the weight for sure. I have a goal to pull 200lbs out of my car...which is getting pretty close to reality. If I could I would definitely upgrade the drive shaft.(against the rules of the class the car is prepped for)
But the point is, "Must have Mods". Driveline is a "nice to have" mod IMO.
You will get more out of light weight wheels.(acceleration, handling response, braking, good looks...usually) Plus wheels a lot of times is a must have to fit the tires you need. LCA's, UCA's, Spring, shocks...these things are more common to correct for inherent flaws that hold the car back in stock form. Throttle response and acceleration are not really inherent flaws with these cars.
I could see DS upgrade as "Must have" if you put a whole bunch of power in the car and you needed the drive train upgrade to handle it.

Eh to each his own. I read somewhere that rotational mass is roughly 3 times/can be counted as 3 times more when rotating. So guessing the stock shaft is 40 lbs then while spinning it would be similar to 120 lbs, where as the aluminum would be 60, that's a pretty good drop in weight.

Agree with BadBoss, you cant go wrong by installing LCA,UCA. Adj. PH...but if your going that far you should get "traction brackets" like the one Kenny Brown sells. They really help the car hook up with the geometry correction they give.
I'm still not sold on the drive shaft as a "must have" though. Yes, its benefits are clear. But, I would rank a lot of mods higher on the list. Also, can't say I have heard of anyone but Ace72 breaking the stock one, seem like a fringe case.

Here's a picture of what I collected from the passenger's side of my 2013 Boss after a couple hundred miles of "Cruising.":

I've got a new system that I'll be installing...that will collect and vent both sides.
