Material Hold? Help Deysha Please

I Called 1-800-392-FORD to find out if my car had a build date yet and I was told it was on "Material Hold"...........

Deysha,
Can you fill us in on what this may be due to? I am sure my car will not be the only one....

Thank you so much!

Not to worry. A material hold just means your car is in the system waiting to be pulled for production. My car sat like that for months. When is your allocation? If it's not a Q2 allocation just sit back and relax as you're going to have a bit of a wait.

It is a Q3 but I was told by the local Ford rep they have a small chance of sliding it in to a Q2 slot.

The Ford rep this morning said they are starting to get build dates for Q3

This is highly unlikely so dont' get your hopes up. Think abou it, in order to move up someone has to move down. I'm not trying to bring you down the mood elevator just being realistic. Ford is about halfway through the Q2 builds so there's still a month or so until Q3 starts. You'll get your VIN 2-3 weeks before the build date.

I got a VIN two weeks ago, shortly thereafter, I got a a build date and ETA (18-Jul, 31-July respectively), and just today the window sticker appeared. This is playing out exactly how the saleman said it would back in mid-May. BTW, a Q3 car.

But to 5 DOT 0's point, it is mostly chaos.

+1 c6dreamvette, all specialty vehicles have this status until they schedule.

Once again 5 DOT 0 is giving you the straight scoop.

Almost 50% of the MY12 production run VIN's have been pulled. It appears Ford is on track to hit the initial Boss unit numbers that have been floating around for a while.

Easy for those who have their car to say sit back and relax, but realistically that is the best you can do. Your car will come....and all the pacing and worrying will soon be forgotten. It really is worth the wait!
