Machine Turned Metal Vinyl

Does anyone know where I could source the machine turned vinyl used on the Boss dash? I'd like to cover the console area too.

Jason

Well, the dash is machined turned aluminum, not vinyl.

It is not machine turned. Whether it is vinyl or aluminum I am not sure maybe aluminized vinyl.

Sorry, engine turned, not machine turned. Are you sure about it being an aluminum piece? Sure seems like some sort of wrap to me.

Once again, thanks for the reminder as to why I don't spend much time on this site. You know exactly what I'm talking about, instead of being a resource you want to argue over semantics.

Totally agree. Seriously, just help the OP out.

Here's a start, not sure if this is what you're looking for.

every call a vinyl shop? talking to local companies is the best bet. You might even find something better.

I would take that has a clue that no one knows or they would of simply dropped the info on you. They might be trying to make sure you are asking fro what they think you are trying to say to try and see if the next member will be able to help you with the right info. That will have a higher chance of happenng if they know 100% of what you are asking.

Isn't it better to learn here vs looking like an idiot when you place an order with a company?

I appreciate ALL I have learned here.

I'm not trying to be a d***, but what is "machine turned" and how is it different from engine turned? (I like to know things...).

Yes just different names for the same thing. Point is nobody is doing it on any machine any more. The pattern is stamped or rolled into the metal or molded into the vinyl then vapor deposit aluminum is applied for the "look" of engine turned aluminum.

What people call real no a days is fake because they have never seen the real thing. Kinda like *****.

Here is some. If I were doing this, I would find the best I could find and just redo everything so that it matches. I do not think the factory finish looks all that great. I mean, it looks fine, but it doesn't look like metal. I bet you can find a material that looks better. I think finding an exact match for the factory material will be almost impossible, and possibly not worth it.

Let us know how it goes. I do like the machine turned look and hope it turns out well.

Jimmy
