The center gauge is a Ford Racing-rebranded Autometer D-PIC which the normal variety retails for about $200.

So you're looking at almost $400 in gauges alone BEFORE you even consider slapping a Ford Racing logo on it or the custom pod.

I would be interested in the pod itself but not really the DPIC. I have one in my car and it's a pain in the ***; it's basically an accelerometer and timer that computes 0-60 times, 60-0 times, HP, etc. But when you're not using it it doesn't self-calibrate, and is an annoying distraction blinking and flashing at you. Trust me, I have it in a pillar pod and it wore out its welcome inside of two weeks after the gee-whiz factor wore off. I bought it to compliment a programmable shift light, my car only has double gauge pods available so I had to choose a second gauge. Big mistake. If I could extract the DPIC cleanly without wrecking the paint job on the pod I'd have done it by now.

That said, the gauge itself CAN be useful -- my advice though is to buy the Autometer windshield mount cup for it http://www.autometer.com/cat_accesso...l.aspx?vid=186 and put it away when you're not using it.

There's no info. The photos came from the hi-res image archive on the Ford Racing page.

No doubt I'm out of touch with reality on the cost of the gauges, but I can still hope. Thanks for you opinion on the gauges and that's good advice.

Here is a picture of the Aeroforce A/C pod gauge I use in my GT500 along with the GPS lap timer I hook up just for track days. The Aeroforce gauge is $239 and the pod was less than $30. I haven't seen a pod for the 2011+ Mustang yet, but I see we don't have round vents in the center of the dash. You would have to mount it to the left of the steering wheel on the Boss. I need to uncover my car and see how that would work visually. For me I prefer this location to the A-pillar or top of dash as it doesn't interfere with your field of vision on the track. In the center position it's easily viewable, but again not sure about on the left side yet. Can we assume we'll still have the factory "SVT" shift light in the center of the tach for the Boss? You can program the Aeroforce gauge as a shift light, but I use the factory one on the GT500. I know it probably won't say "SVT" on the Boss but will there be some kind of shift light?

The GPS lap timer I have pictured above is from Krosswerx. They are the exclusive US distributor of the PZ Racing Timetronics GPS timer. You can get it in either 12V (which I have) or battery operated. I just bought a 12V adaptor from Radio Shack and wired it to the unit and plug it in as shown in the photo. The antenna is velcro'd to the top of my dash so I can take it out when not on track. When I bought mine last summer it was $250.

Their website is: http://www.krosswerx.com/

There's the Speed Of Sound center dash gauge pod. Link

I think I might just go ahead and splurge and get the FRPP BOSS gauges though.

Not bad.

For anyone shopping around, check out the MyChron series from AiM.

I am extremely fortunate in that I'll have access to a full DAQ system that can be also integrated with the CANBus. I still want the gauge pod, but not the center gauge. I was thinking maybe a second temp gauge for the diff.

Any thoughts about a useful 3rd gauge?

Programmable shift light.

Personally I have a Stewart Warner GUS; I really like it but it only has one shift point setting.

For the Mustang I'm leaning toward the Autometer Digital Pro Shift System
Level 2 Shift Light mounted in a Roush Air Vent pod.

Those are nice options, but the DAQ system also offers that.

I'd have to look up that DAQ system but the Autometer unit is pretty slick -- it has a launch RPM indicator and you can set different shift points for each gear, as well as an overrev indicator.

Both Traqmate and AiM offer that stuff built-in standard.
