lower grill opening
The mesh is the same mesh that is in the foglight openings in the 302S grille. The opening is about .4 inches. Most flying objects will hit some part of the mesh and either deflect, slow down or be stopped all together. I would think that a few objects could get by and hit the condensor though. I did not want to go to small with the mesh as I did not want to contribute to the overheating issue seen by some guys. So yes, I believe it serves a purpose.

Here are some pics of my condenser before the grille and you can see it's at least 80% blocked which dramatically impeded airflow to the radiator on track. Note how "clean" the condenser looks directly behind the vertical plastic support:

I installed a new condenser and the lower grille. Install was a snap and the fit and finish is factory quality.

I wish my issue was just cleaning out bugs. Unfortunately the fins on our condensers are EXTREMELY soft and just get smashed by small pebbles and tire turds.

PS- When are you taking a trip west for some of our mild summer track events and cruises? Rick and I are joining about 40 Shelby's and Bosses for a trip to Lake Tahoe on Sat. Temp should be a brutal 75* lakeside!
Hey Gary. Nicole here in Nor Cal has a 2012 LS and she has removed the condenser all together. Says cooling is no longer a problem for her. I think the reason you didn't notice your winter cooling mods was the bent fins. With your new condenser you should realize your cooling gains.

She said it did, but didn't have any #'s. She open tracks quite a bit apparently. I think she said she was going 4 straight weekends. She does it right. She has Borelli Motorsports trailer her car to the track and she drives up in her new Shelby convertible.
See if you can find out how they capped the lines. I'm wondering if they took out the compressor too or just the condenser. It's on its own belt, so if you delete the compressor, you don't need an idler pulley. I'm just not sure about the best way to cap/seal it off so you don't contaminate the lines or compressor.
